The town is too touristy.
The town is too touristy. The afternoon traffic is absolutely horrendous. I would not stay in the city again. I would try to stay in the surrounding area given how beautiful the Ring of Kerry and the national park is.

Friends recommended to visit Killarney at least once - and that we did. We stayed just one night.
We had a beautiful walk around ross castle and the Killarney National Park, but we did not like the city center. The tourists we're shipped in with dozens of busses and we decided to keep of the main roads. We found a lovely bar & restaurant next to St. Mary's called "The lane" with affordable prices and not too full.

Great central point to access all that Killarney has to offer. We would recommend three nights in Killarney. The only reason we had two nights was because we had other accommodation booked in the area totalling 5 nights in the region.

The horse and carriage ride through the National Park was wonderful! The castle tour was great and very informative. The shops were filled with delightful, good-quality items, and the restaurants were excellent. Would love to come back! The Gap of Dunloe was spectacular. Killarney is such a beautiful place to visit with a wealth of local amenities to chose from . a bus tour of molls gap / the ring of Kerry is beautiful to go on . the house and gardens at muckross house are lovely for a wander . if your feeling more energetic a hike out to Ross Castle around the lake shore or up to Torc Waterfall are brilliant .
theres loads of local eateries to cover whatever you fancy and if you get a chance check out the lord of the rings themed bar , the Shire .

This was our second stay at the Arbutus. The hotel is well located in the town centre, near the railway station. The public rooms are beautiful, traditional interiors in Georgian style, with elements of Celtic ornamentation. There are numerous examples of 'Killarney furniture' in the hotel, a distinctive form made of locally-growing arbutus wood with marquetry inlay. The hotel bar has the character of a tradtional Irish pub with some excellent decor, including an art deco fireplace. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Fantastic location, close to town centre. Plenty to do inside and outside of the hotel. Hotel room was amazing, had a family suite with well equipped kitchen. Lots of activities each day to keep the children entertained. Excellent buffet breakfast. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Pool was great too.
