Location is perfect. Short walk to bus stops and attractions. Breakfast is simple (yogurt, granola, juice, pastry) and I love the free coffee with it. The hangout area is great to sit and relax when you have some time to kill or wind down at the end of the day.

The old town is full of attractive buildings that contrast with some spectacular modern architecture such as the Harpa Concert Hall. The city has a small fishing port on its doorstep, plus a nice lake that is home to local ducks and swans. Lots of good eating establishments and plenty of shopping, although you will soon realise that some shops sell locally made goods, and others offer foreign made out of local materials e.g. Icelandic wool. The local people are friendly and welcoming - not surprising given tourism is Iceland's biggest industry. Just be aware that Iceland is frightfully expensive. For instance, in an upscale bakery/cafe we paid AUD 99.00 for two focaccias, two pastries and two coffees. We gave up converting and just enjoyed the place.

Reykjavik is a pleasant city.

Reykjavik is a pleasant city. The facilities and buildings along the waterfront are newer and more modern, while the oldest part of the city is in the center. You’ll find plenty of restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops there. Two days were enough for me to explore it. Don't miss the immersive experience at Perlan—it's worth it!

We visited Reykjavik as part of cruise.

We visited Reykjavik as part of cruise. We decided to stay a couple of days to further explore the town and area. On our first day we did a couple of amazing walking tours with a local company (Wake up Reykjavik) The first one being "Becoming Icelandic" , which was nice amble packed with information and fun. Later we went on the Food Walk. The food walk was a nicely paced tour with five stops to taste terrific food in some amazing locations. Both tours gave a great overview of the beautiful walkable downtown area. On day two we toured the downtown area and visited The Perlan, Hallgrímskirkja Church and the Phallological Museum. On day three we went on a Golden Circle tour, a great tour with amazing stops at Thingvellir national park Geysir and Gullfoss (a spectacular waterfall) along with several othe great stops. We ended our day with a stop at the wonderful Sky Lagoon. If we did not have limited vacation time we could have stayed longer, using downtown Reykjavik as our base for further exporing the city and Southern Iceland!

We finished our 10 day drive around the ring road, then stayed two nights in Reykjavik and flew home. My only advise to anyone traveling to Iceland is you MUST leave Reykjavik to truly get a glimse of how magnificently beautiful the landscape is in Iceland! Definately book a bus or private tour and go outside of the city to see waterfalls, hot springs (highly recommend Hvammsvik) anything... but leave Reykjavik because the scenic drive is an excursion of its own. And come prepared for weather because this will allow you to be most comfortable and happy as you travel.

We spent a few days before the marathon in the city and enjoyed the Perlam museum, a whale watching trip and the Lava Show - would recommend all 3! The harbour was great to walk along and the public buses were really easy to navigate (and cheap). We returned at the end of our trip and spent some time wandering the city centre which had a great 'vibe' and was easy to walk around. As a vegetarian, I would recommend Mama Rejkjavik which served a good selection of vegan dishes right in the city centre.

We stayed in the building that houses the reception desk and our room was bright and comfortable and simply huge compared to all the other hotels we stayed at while visiting Iceland. The building appears to be newly renovated and it is in a super convenient location, mere steps away from the main shopping street and within walking distance of many sights, bars, and restaurants. The breakfast basket provided a hearty start to the day and the bread was outstanding. We would not hesitate to stay there on a return visit to Reykjavik.

Igdlo Guesthouse is a great option if you’re looking for a simple, cheap and functional place to stay in Iceland. The location of the guesthouse is the main draw here - it’s super close to downtown Reykjavík - incredibly convenient for us as tourists! The check in, and check out, were relatively simple, the rooms fine, and having a communal kitchen was a lovely touch. We were able to cook our own food at multiple points throughout our trip which was a wonderful way of saving money on eating out in town!

I recommend this hotel in the center of reykjavik. There is a bus stop 3 in front and the city hall bus stop 1 is 5 minutes walking distance it was perfect for the pick up for my excursions. What i appreciate, when i did my booking, i wrote a resquest they replied me we did our best if it is possible and they did it. It was very nice to be consider not as a simple tourist, they take care.

The room is the right size without excesses, large bathroom with large shower. The bed is comfortable and warm. The lady at the reception was very kind. We only stayed one night and were looking for a cheap hotel that had convenient parking for the car and wasn't too far from the center, here we found everything we needed.
