Fantastic hotel in a prime location, no more than 20 minute walk to most sites of interest in Reykjavik. Lovely and very professional staff. Solid breakfast (great coffee and insanely delicious, warm and buttery cinnamon rolls, the best we have ever tasted) and good sauna facilities freely available to guests (priceless in winter). Beds were a dream, immaculate and very comfortable rooms. Very expensive but this is Iceland!

Basically a boring place...unless you are a hiker. Everything is grossly over-priced: 3x USA price for a simple cheeseburger. Taxis VERY expensive. Bad place to go to, unless for just two nights to just see the Northern Nights...and you are willing to blow your budget.

There are many possibility to do in Reykjavik, even if it seems at first glance a big-village. Museums, activities, concerts, restaurants, pubs, monuments, beaches, light house, etc. one can easily stay a week.

Iceland was packed with visitors trying to experience the solar eclipse and did very well accommodating them, with the exception of Keflavik Airport which seemed to have a meltdown when so many departed at the same time the following morning. The shop Iceland VAT free (refund) tax scheme is more like a scam and I found the team at the airport some of the only rude people in all of Iceland. Also the TSA threw out gifts that had been purchased even though they met all stated requirements for hand luggage, so I would recommend packing all souvenirs in checked luggage. Favorite restaurant was Forretabarrin. And Avis did an excellent job with car rental. We did both Blue Lagoon and Sky Lagoon and would recommend them. The former was more healing and the team at the latter was very customer service focused.

There was more to do here than we expected. We spent one day visiting outdoor sites in the city, but wished we could have gone to some of the museums. It is a short drive to must-see locations like The Blue Lagoon and Thingvallir National Park.

Reykjavík feels like a small town wearing a capital city badge. The scale is intimate—no towering skyline, no frantic traffic—and that’s part of the appeal. You get Nordic cleanliness and order, but with a playful, artsy personality: murals, design shops, cozy cafés, and locals who are friendly in a straightforward, Icelandic way.

Reykjavik is a very charming city when the weather is nice.

Reykjavik is a very charming city when the weather is nice. It is very compact and everything worth seeing is no more than a 20 minute walk from wherever you are. However if it is not sunny it can be very cold and windy making it hard to enjoy. Food wise everything is uber expensive and the portion sizes do not compensate for the overpriced food. The food itself is tasty but it is very hard to justify paying $40 for a cheeseburger.

The location is great, a bit out of downtown but there are bus stops just 5 minutes away with frequent buses. There's also a big supermarket (Netto) less than 10 minutes away which was useful when we wanted to buy groceries to cook at the hotel. The room had everything we needed to make food for ourselves: a stove, kettle, oven, etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower was powerful and veryyyy hot — just what we needed in the cold weather! Considering how expensive the city is, this hotel was cheap and great value for our money.

Excellent location, very central, city center only 5 minutes' walk, harbor no more than 10 minutes' walk. Lots of restaurants around, but the street is quiet. We took a shuttle from the airport and several excursions with Reykjavik Excursions, Fly Bus, and it was very convenient, the drop-off stop is only 5 minutes from the hotel. Hotel is very quit, we sleept well, litery ok, we had everything we need in the small kitchen. The supermarket is also just 5 minutes from the hotel. Everything was very clean.

The rooms were clean, spacious and loved the added touch of the coffee machine and fridge! The location was a perfect distance to walk to Reykjavík city centre, and the airport shuttle bus dropped off right at the hotel, so that was a massive bonus! (The bus station is about a 5-10 min walk). Love the water/ice dispenser in the lobby! Great idea!
