What Guests Said About Reykjavík:

Scored out of 10, guest rating 10

Reyjavik is a compact pretty city.

Reyjavik is a compact pretty city. There is an excellent bus system but walking is fairly easy also. The Cathedral is visible from most of the city; also the Perlan exhibition dome, which is excellent for the displays of fire and ice. The Sky Lagoon is bliss especially as we were lucky enough to watch the northern lights from the gorgeously warm water. If you go and want to drink alcohol, buy it at the airport as it is very difficult to buy in the city. Supermarkets only sell beers not over 2.25 º. All the locals stock up at the airport. The tectonic plate snorkelling I would give a miss, unless you are a die hard cold water warrior. Getting changed in the open at ~15º is not fun.

We enjoyed great meals and baked goods. We had a delightful afternoon and evening at Hvammsvik Hot Springs. Then we saw the greatest northern lights show of our lives -- it stretched horizon to horizon and was bright enough to blot our the brightest stars

Reykjavik is a clean town.

Reykjavik is a clean town. I did not get to walk around the town as we were occupied with various tours each day during the 3 days we visited Iceland. The local people I met were friendly. We had a very good meal at the Reykjavik Kitchen as well as the Pure Deli. Taxi's are readily available and usually are quick to arrive.

From the very first interaction with locals, they proved to be warm, easy-going, and especially proud of their country. And for good reason, the place is like nowhere else we have ever visited. We did a fabulous Northern Lights tour and we hit the Blue Lagoon for a day of restful lingering in a geothermal lake. It all sounds touristy but it's totally worth it! We close to go over New Year's Eve to experience the fireworks and general street parties that happen and they were amazing. We will definitely return during the summer months to experience more.

The city itself doesn't have much to do, but it's a really cute city with good food, and good structure for you to travel around and meet Iceland. Beware of the tours you book, Iceland weather is really unstable, and companies often don't cancel the tour even if the weather is not ideal.

The hotel has self check-in, and once we figured out the keypads for the doors (we were entering the wrong code initially 🤣), this made it super simple throughout our stay! The rooms were huge, modern and had everything you need! Location is perfect, right in the centre of Reykjavík with bars and restaurants all around! If hiring a car, the Tradarkot car park round the corner is ideal and super cheap! £1.50 for the first hour and then £0.75/hour thereafter!!

Baron's Hostel is cheap, super clean, with very confortable beds. Dormitories are small, thus quiet. The hosts are charming and very helpful. The location is excellent, close to city centre and BSI. There's an excellent swimming pool just accross the street, with hot pots to relax after a busy day. I could'nt wish for a better place to stay in Reykjavik.
