South AfricaHotel is very expensive for a fairly average place. It is very well located, just outside Skaftafell National Park. The surroundings are beautiful - just behind the hotel you can pick up a trail to a fantastic viewpoint of the glacier, with almost no people (but you need not stay in the hotel for that). If you can, go late afternoon or evening. The room was very basic, but nice and clean. Breakfast was nice, with wonderful bread. A very convenient diner-type restaurant is just across the street, with very friendly staff. Good burgers.

Peaceful location very close to Skaftafell National Park and Jokulsarlon Lagoon. The space was super well divided with brand new furniture and all one can need, and very clean. The view was really beautiful.

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.Guest review bymaryUnited States

The room was a good size and when we mentioned the comfort of the beds (they were a bit worn), the staff made an extra effort to replace the mattresses quickly! After that was done, we were so grateful. Being able to walk out the back door and hike to the Svinafellsjokull (glacier), have a short drive to Diamond Beach and the glacier lagoon, and get to the Skaftafel Nature Reserve/Park in minutes was key!Guest review byCindyUnited States
