The staff are wonderful! We checked in around midnight coming from a bus from Bari Airport and it was only a short walk from the bus stop and also very near the train station when it was time to leave.. Elevator/lift was handy for the suitcases. The room was basic but clean. Overall perfect for what we needed!

The Apulian capital Bari has been known for its port since Roman times. Nowadays there are 2 harbours: cruise ships and ferries to Greece and Croatia depart from the new port, while the old port shelters fishing vessels.
Between them is a seafront road bordering the real attraction – the old town. Narrow, cobbled streets lead under arches to hidden piazzas with pavement cafes. Many are on adjoining Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, where the old Roman road is exposed.
The imposing 12th-century Norman-Swabian Castle guards the west of the historic centre, and the simple Cathedral of San Sabino is from the same period. Equally understated is the Basilica of St Nicholas, housing relics of the saint. Pope John Paul II once prayed there, which may have given rise to Bari Airport’s name: Karol Wojtyła Airport.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the meeting point of the old town and the Murat district, built under orders of Napoleon’s brother-in-law. Facing each other across this street are the colourful façades of the municipal office and Piccinni Theatre, though most prestigious is the Petruzzelli Theatre opera house.
Booking.com’s Bari accommodation includes luxury hotels by the Fiera del Levante, cheap city centre apartments, and B&Bs near the train station. For families, the slides and swimming pools of Bari Acquapark make a great day out.

There is nothing very special in this city.
There is nothing very special in this city. It could be the last city to be visited in Italy. It is a small city, two days at most is enough.
There are many and varied places to eat. There is no need for city transportation. Everything is within walking distance. There is no need to come just for Bari. If you are going to visit the surrounding cities, Bari can be it.

Bari is a busy holiday destination , the old town is rambling and buzzing with activities. The new city is laid out in grids with a lot of traffic free areas. There are lots of parks and beautiful beaches and it is an ideal base to explore Puglia. Lots of places to eat and delicious meals that won't break the bank. A great place just to people watch lol ciao

Bari is amazing.
Bari is amazing. There is so much to see and do in Bari (and so many things to eat!) and it is such a great place to base yourself for day trips , (I used bus and train) to surrounding towns and attractions. A walking food tour is essential for both the food and fascinating info about Bari. Most things are in walking distance from Bari vecchia, including the waterfront and train station. Antica Salumeria Di Nicola Lapesara, Tranquillo wine Bar and La bul are highly recommended.

The old town was really interesting.
The old town was really interesting. We spent a day wandering round because of a train strike. Bari has fabulous bus and train links to all the places we wanted to visit in Puglia which suited us for day trips. We took Rick Steves guidebook with us to avoid taking tours.

Bari is a fairly good size city, sophisticated compared to all the other cities in Puglia. Has culture, Opera, Architecture, great restaurants, great shopping such as Prada, Louis Vuitton and Culpado, the latter, my favorite store. Beautiful sunsets, old town elegantly dressed men and women ( mostly Italians)....I live in the countryside in the province of Brindisi, and so often I need a shot of all of the above. It is a great city to spend , 3 or 4 days as a starting point to see neighboring towns.
Now Bari offers the '' London EyE''. equivalent.
I always stay at Gatto Bianco bnb, photo of the building shown bellow, a central position, with all the comfort. Also as recommendation, you should visit Brindisi, a much smaller version of Bari but worth the trip.

Attentiveness, hospitality, and huge helpfulness on the part of the hosts. Stylish, beautiful room and old, but fully renovated house with elevator. Comfortable, clean apartment with balcony, met our expectations to the maximum. We can only recommend it to everyone, if you want to see Bari or just you want to swim/relaxing on the beach, the distance between the accomodation and the city centre is few hundred meters, the "Pane e Pomodoro" beach is only few km by bus (about 10 stop).
This is a perfect b&b for a city break, especially if you want to be close to Bari Central Train station. Everything else is also within easy reach. the old town, the shops, the port and the beach. despite being so central the rooms are really quiet and cool (I was there during a really hot spell). The staff are friendly and helpful…it’s the prefect city - break hotel.
lovely hotel in old town - tastefully furnished and decorated
nicely spacious room + the roof terrace a quiet spot with plenty of space too
wonderful energetic and positive host - we followed her tips and they were spot on - v helpful as we’re in Bari for such a short time and she helped us make the most of it
quiet too bar the odd expected voices and creaks
Location was fantastic - the lungomare was across the road so you could easily take a leisurely stroll along the path by the sea. The hotel restaurant had a great menu and the dining experience was fantastic - great view from the restaurant and there was a nice rooftop bar. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Within an easy walk of Bari old town centre.
