Best-known for the stunning Duomo, Florence is full of amazing buildings and its historic centre. The Ponte Vecchio, a 14th-century bridge holding a multitude of shops on its edges is a stunning example and provides a truly unforgettable view.

Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.

For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.

    Florence was amazing!

Florence was amazing! So much to see and do and not enough time. My highlights were the Uffizi Gallery where the Birth of Venus is (its even more beautiful in real life), Galleria University where you will see the statue of David (he's bigger than you think!), and all the amazing food choices (The Florentine steak is a must, as is some gelato). We would highly recommend going to Florence for at least a week.

Great Gelato in many places ( don’t like the touristic ones ) Always a beautiful city with great places to walk to . Definitely should walk over the bridges to the less touristic areas . Very romantic , great shops for wines and olive oils . Such a great city

Trips to the Tuscan countryside were the highlights. Chianti Hills and the small towns were fabulous. Florence museums... well, you can't see them anywhere else in the world. Stunning. For food, tap into your guides' local knowledge.... stay away from the restaurants around the main square. They, in general, are terrible.

A lovely place to wander round without paying to go in the museums, though we did go to the uffizi. Cafe culture very relaxing though watch for biting creatures at mid june. You can wear your best dress and not look out of place! Comfortable footwear is a must as there is big stone paving and there are waterbottle refill stations. Go on a withlocals.com tour and find that Florence has a sense of humour! Relaxing atmosphere if you dont do too much bucket list ticking, its not neccesary as eandering the streets is enough. We had a balcony to our room and it was lovely listening to the church bells in the morning. Loved every minute. Signorevino has the best wine and is reasonably priced.

Book the skip the queue tours as waiting times can be quite lengthy at many of the popular attractions. Avoid taxis if you can as they can run away with a lot of your cash and prices are variable due to unscrupulous taxi drivers. Organised food tour was a highlight.

The hotel's location was perfect for us to enjoy the city. Our room was small, but that was expected. I think paying a little extra to have a room with a view facing the church was worth it. All of the staff were kind. Breakfast was a bit pricier compared to what we paid at other places, but it was good. We visited three other cities after leaving Florence, and this hotel turned out to be the best and our favorite during our trip to Italy!

This is a hidden gem in the hills of Florence, just 15 minutes drive from the city center. Martina and her husband are perfect hosts, gave us the best tips for restaurants (Zocchi) and ice cream (Badiani). The apartment was spacious, well-equipped, and our terrace let no wish unanswered: full view of the Hills of Tuscanny right in front of our eyes. The pool is amazing. We are often in Italy but this was clearly one of the best experiences.

The common areas were spotless and wonderfully relaxing. The rooftop bar and pool area stunning, with wonderful views (including the Duomo of course) " sipping a prosecco at sunset is a must" Access to Tram and Bus also great.

We came to Italy for our honeymoon. Choosing to stay here was absolutely the best decision. The lush green surroundings, delicious breakfast, and friendly service all left a deep impression on me.
