Perfect location, great services. The room is spacious and quiet enough for a good rest, even though the hotel is in a very central location. It is close to the train station, making it easy to take trains to nearby coastal spots. There are also many food options nearby. The bright colours in the room are very cheerful.

FAQs about hotels in Genoa

Ship Shape and Fancy Free

Right on the Ligurian coast, Genoa features Europe’s largest historic quarter and Italy’s largest seaport. As the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, its heart and soul is the port, site of the Naval Museum and the ship-shaped Aquarium.

By the old port (Porto Antico), there are several bars and restaurants serving the local specialty, pesto. Other Genoese favorites are focaccia and fresh fish from its Mediterranean shores. Don’t miss the homemade gelato ice cream along the seafront promenade, Corso Italia. East of here is the tranquil Boccadasse neighborhood, where colorful boats bob up and down.

The best city views are from Villetta di Negro, a raised, shady park with a waterfall. Below is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Via Garibaldi, home to the ornately decorated Palazzo dei Rolli.

South is the historic quarter with its black-and-white cathedral and Piazza de Ferrari, featuring a large fountain and historic buildings including the Doge’s Palace. The surrounding area is a maze of narrow, cobbled streets flying the Genoa flag, supposedly where the English took theirs from. Each features bars, restaurants and unique shops, while fancy boutiques are on Via XX Settembre.

As you approach Genova Airport, look out for the fortresses on the lush hills forming the backbone of the "Superb City." Booking.com has a range of Genoa accommodations, from hotels to apartments and B&Bs.

Genova is a gold mine of history and culture!

Genova is a gold mine of history and culture! Don't forget to visit the many museums throughout the city. Catch the train to the Nervi park and museum complex as well, an awesome day trip with culture and amazing views of the ocean, a short train ride away, very cheap to ride the train as well. You will find amazing sculptures and frescoes here, and more. Don't forget to practice your Italian! Even a few words will make the locals smile and they will appreciate the effort! Like any big city, you will meet many interesting characters from all over the world, but everyone seems to get along well. There are countless options for excellent and affordable meals, as you would expect, ask the locals or hotel staff where the best food options are to be found. Don't forget to ask for the "flat rate" or "fixed price" taxi fare from the airport to the center, it's only 25 euro plus a small fee if you are arriver very early or late.

This city is a treasure trove of fascinations for visitors.

This city is a treasure trove of fascinations for visitors. I am surprised that it does not come to mind for many US citizens as a place to visit. Museums, historical sights abound in the narrow covered alleys and streets of the city. We will be back. It is easy to get lost if walking in the old city. Google maps was a big help in getting us to our destinations. Seafood here is very good, as is the focaccia, of course.

Genova feels huge, and if you are not used to the hustle and bustle of a big city, you may feel intimidated. I did. There are vast numbers of things to see, and do, so you need to stay at least a week to do it justice.

Genoa impressed me with its unique combination of history, art, gastronomy, urban character, and its living connection to the sea through the port. Together, these elements create a remarkable atmosphere that can appeal to almost any traveler. It is a city that invites you to wander, discover, and enjoy new experiences at every turn.

It is a nice city, even if it is quite young in comparison to other European city, it has a very dense history. The city is safe to walk during the day, after 19:00 you should be careful on some streets of the Medieval city. However, the overall city is safe, and compared with other Italian cities is not gentrified. In the old medieval and Renaissance-Baroque building regular people still live there.

All major touristc attractions were concentrated, accessible by walking. Wanderful panoramic views, nice flavour of ald times, an impressive Palazzo Ducale, the Saint Lazzaro church, the harbour, the Aquarium and, of course, the multitude of reataurants and bars. A beach at Boccadasse is reachable by bus and a trip by boat to Portofino will fill up your soul with joy!

Absolutely beautiful place. It's a room that has all the complimentary amenities of a 5-star hotel. The design is beautiful, and the room is super comfortable. The host even brought some treats that really bring out the charm of staying in Italy. The experience of staying in this place is surely worth paying slightly more than for an average room in Genoa. For the best experience, I would recommend to text or call the host shortly before the arrival, maybe 15-30 min so that they can meet you on time.

The company handling this rental was able to switch us to another apartment in another neighborhood after we contacted them and explained the problem including to show proof with photographs. They were really fair with us and I am sure this was an exceptional situation that we were lucky they were able to solve. Thank you Wonderful Italy! The location of the apartment was a positive since old town is a fun place to be in general.
