Extremely friendly and organised and helpful owners. The rooms spotlessly clean and well appointed. Spacious and plenty of room. Coffee in the room a nice and a welcome touch. Bed large and comfortable. Sweets outside a nice temptation I couldn’t resist. TV has many Chanel’s 2 minutes walk from station - 40 seconds walk to the Minerva statue then into Pavia old town

I was there to photograph several churches but found the city charming and could have enjoyed another day there. The Hotel Moderno right across from the train station was a great choice given its location close to the historic center, reserved on street parking, and proximity to the train station.

Pavia was a great non-tourist town. University vibe, well kept buildings and streets. Nice historic center and river area. Good restaurants. For a break from all the tourist, big city hustle - Pavia was perfect.

If you like interesting old churches and a lively town...

If you like interesting old churches and a lively town centre Pavia is a great place to visit for a couple of days. About 5 miles out of town is an amazing monastery complex. You can get there by bus or train but these methods required too much walking in the intense heat so we took taxis. Well worth a visit. Everyone friendly and helpful.

Pavia has wonderful medieval churches and a big museum at the Castello. The tomb of St. Augustine is amazing, and is a favorite stopping point of Pope Leo XIV. Boethius is also buried in Pavia. The city still keeps traditional Mediterranean hours (2-2 1/2-hour break midday), so it takes a day or two longer to see all the sites. We found good restaurants and would happily have stayed longer. It is said that April-May are the best months to visit, and it was already hot (80 degrees) at the end of May.

I've visited Pavia a few times.

I've visited Pavia a few times. In a recent visit, I went to the Museo Kosmos, the Natural History Museum. Founded in the 1700's it's one of the world's oldest museums dedicated to natural history, but with a modern vibe - apparently over 500 exhibits (I didn't count them!), multimedia games, videos, interactive activities for children. An excellent place of learning.

Pavia has a modern centre and the older part has some lovely buildings. Certosa di Pavia, an old monastery, is 9 minutes by train (don't forget to validate your ticket in the machine next to the platform entrance). Do check the opening times, though. Pavia would also be convenient for visiting other cities in the area

Wanderlust is very well situated in the historic centre of Pavia, close to restaurants and cafes. Loriana has taken great care over the furnishing of the apartment which we found very comfortable and pleasing to the eye. As a host she was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.

Great in all aspects, very comfortable and spacious. It was easy to find and park in the street in front of the hotel. The bed was very large and comfortable. Sparkling water machine was an amazing plus on a hot summer day. Overall very good value for money.

Hotel Excelsior is in the square of the main railway station, and it is in good position to visit the city. The room was big, with a comfortable enough bed. Breakfast was barely OK for the price I was charged (8.00 euros per day). Staff were friendly.
