Thank you to Chiara and the team for their excellent, friendly service. A friend and I stayed on two separate nights while we went on a cycling trip. Our twin room was very large; we were allowed to leave our (huge) bike boxes at the hotel for three nights without any bother; the breakfast was great value and offered lots of choice; and we got a very warm welcome when we returned from our trip. Thanks!

FAQs about hotels in Turin

Shrouded in Sophistication

Italy’s first capital, sophisticated Turin has many elegant buildings and porticoed streets. Large Piazza Castello is the focal point and centres on Palazzo Madama, an unusual structure with a Renaissance façade and medieval body.

The next door Royal Palace backs onto Turin Cathedral, home to the Turin Shroud, the cloth with an imprint of Christ only rarely on display. Its museum is just one of the many fantastic Turin museums. None is better than the Egyptian Museum, the largest collection of Egyptian artefacts outside Cairo. Also noteworthy is the Mole Antonelliana, housing displays on Italian cinema and supposedly the world’s tallest museum.

By the Po, Italy’s longest river, is the Parco del Valentino, a tranquil park that is home to the Borgo Medievale, an artificial, medieval-style settlement with a castle.

However, within Italy, Turin is best known for sport and cars. FIAT is based here and nostalgia lovers can visit the rooftop track on top of their old Lingotto factory, now a conference centre. The city’s 2 Serie A football clubs - Torino and Juventus - also have electric atmospheres at their games.

Watch out for amazing views of the Alps as you fly into Turin Airport. Public transport then quickly links you to your Booking.com hotel, B&B or hostel.

We felt safe everywhere we went in Turin, even at the stations. We found locals to be friendly in the restaurants and shops - quite a laid back place for a big city. Lovely parks & gardens. Due to the almost grid like system it was easy to walk around and we did lots of walking.

Some of the areas of Turin are a bit run-down and not pleasant to walk around, whilst the city centre is really upmarket and expensive. If those other more run-down areas were cared for a little they could be really charming. I am especially thinking of the area just north of Porto Palazzo with really quaint streets. Its a bit daunting during the daytime, but really comes alive at night! Getting round is easy with a day bus/tram ticket that can be purchased from any tobacconist. So overall it was definitely worth visiting Turin, especially to visit the Egyptian museum which is almost too big, but probably a couple of days in Turin is enough. For the more upmarket taste there are plenty of bars and restaurants along the river left and right of Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I, but our best experience was the evening eating and drinking in Via Borgo Donna!

Turin was beautiful and I loved everything from the Palazzo Reale, the old Fiat Factory in Lingotto to the Mole (great cinema museum inside and worth going up the lift for view of the city) and the Egyptian museum. The grand piazzas, palazzos and arcades were beautiful and the Art Nouveau (Liberty stile) buildings in Cit Turin and San Donato were a delight. Loved Piazza San Carlo and the Caffe Torini and worth a trip across the Po to the Monte Capucini for a wonderful view of Turin - including La Mole! Highly recommend.

A very cultural and attractive city with many amazing museums (even an excellent museum of mountaineering just on the other side of the river!!). The Egyptian museum was excellent but extremely busy. I would recommend to allow fewer people in at one time... it was frustrating to view many of the exhibits even though they were amazing. There were plenty of excellent restaurants and cafes and also many open spaces and squares where seating was outside - it was bustling and fun. The Reale museum was incredible and of course much is made of the Turin Shroud (whatever your views of it are ;-) ). The museum cafe was a favourite of mine being part-within the museum buildings and with excellent seating inside and outside. I didn't have time to explore enough but the time I had there (about three days) was busy. On one day I took a bus trip (organised by our group) to an incredible abbey on top of a mountain with amazing views of the snow topped Alps... it's called Sacra di San Michele. Very impressive...

If you have a car you especially care about, this seems to have best parking achievable in a Turin hotel: Beyond two locked gates, in a courtyard, in a private parking spot. (Parking in Turin is difficult. Many hotels claim to have parking but then it turns out they mean that there is street parking nearby, or there is a commercial parking garage nearby with questionable access.)
