FAQs about hotels in Turin

Shrouded in Sophistication

Italy’s first capital, sophisticated Turin has many elegant buildings and porticoed streets. Large Piazza Castello is the focal point and centres on Palazzo Madama, an unusual structure with a Renaissance façade and medieval body.

The next door Royal Palace backs onto Turin Cathedral, home to the Turin Shroud, the cloth with an imprint of Christ only rarely on display. Its museum is just one of the many fantastic Turin museums. None is better than the Egyptian Museum, the largest collection of Egyptian artefacts outside Cairo. Also noteworthy is the Mole Antonelliana, housing displays on Italian cinema and supposedly the world’s tallest museum.

By the Po, Italy’s longest river, is the Parco del Valentino, a tranquil park that is home to the Borgo Medievale, an artificial, medieval-style settlement with a castle.

However, within Italy, Turin is best known for sport and cars. FIAT is based here and nostalgia lovers can visit the rooftop track on top of their old Lingotto factory, now a conference centre. The city’s 2 Serie A football clubs - Torino and Juventus - also have electric atmospheres at their games.

Watch out for amazing views of the Alps as you fly into Turin Airport. Public transport then quickly links you to your Booking.com hotel, B&B or hostel.

Turin is a beautiful city - probably underrated. There is the lovely historic centre, the river and also the Lingotto area with the old Fiat factory and the Pista 500 test track on the roof which can be visited! There is also the automobile museum which is a must! It is very easy to get around with the Metro, buses and trams.

Not the cleanest city with quite a bit of trash around and smell too. Quite a few homeless people too, not giving a good look or smell. There were better looking places of the city, but they were still a bit filthy compared to other European cities. And our friend's car has been robbed. I'll probably skip Turin next time.

We felt safe everywhere we went in Turin, even at the stations. We found locals to be friendly in the restaurants and shops - quite a laid back place for a big city. Lovely parks & gardens. Due to the almost grid like system it was easy to walk around and we did lots of walking.

Some of the areas of Turin are a bit run-down and not pleasant to walk around, whilst the city centre is really upmarket and expensive. If those other more run-down areas were cared for a little they could be really charming. I am especially thinking of the area just north of Porto Palazzo with really quaint streets. Its a bit daunting during the daytime, but really comes alive at night! Getting round is easy with a day bus/tram ticket that can be purchased from any tobacconist. So overall it was definitely worth visiting Turin, especially to visit the Egyptian museum which is almost too big, but probably a couple of days in Turin is enough. For the more upmarket taste there are plenty of bars and restaurants along the river left and right of Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I, but our best experience was the evening eating and drinking in Via Borgo Donna!

Turin was beautiful and I loved everything from the Palazzo Reale, the old Fiat Factory in Lingotto to the Mole (great cinema museum inside and worth going up the lift for view of the city) and the Egyptian museum. The grand piazzas, palazzos and arcades were beautiful and the Art Nouveau (Liberty stile) buildings in Cit Turin and San Donato were a delight. Loved Piazza San Carlo and the Caffe Torini and worth a trip across the Po to the Monte Capucini for a wonderful view of Turin - including La Mole! Highly recommend.

This is our third visit to this wonderful historic hotel. We will stay again, as it is perfect for a short break to Turin. It is central, a good bus connection to Porta Susa, the main railway station. There are many restaurants nearby and the staff are great. This time, we took our Daughter, her husband and children with us. The hotel is good with children. We particularly like the large rooms traditionally furnished. Always an excellent breakfast, served by lovely waiters.

Really nice accommodation! When I arrived to address Monica welcomed me and show me everything in apartment. Great place in good location. I was totally satisfied! And I very much appreciate air condition, because summer in Italy is really hot. I can recommend this place. And by the way it was my first visit in Turin and definitely not the last. :-)
