Amazing hotel in a perfect location right in the centre and 1-2 mins walk from the Arena di Verona. The historical building has been build almost 600 years ago as a Monastery. Looks like a palace inside and still holds this peaceful and beautiful energy. Very quiet, high ceilings, spacious room with a dressing room and a desk, nice bathroom. Breakfast until 11am which helps.
Very professional and friendly staff. Will definitely stay again. So glad I’ve chosen this hotel😊

A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalised in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheatre which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theatre whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which offer cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laidback and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Verona is a fantastic City .
Verona is a fantastic City . We have been here for the Arena Opera Nabucco. People are very friendly and the prices for the restaurants are really acceptable. I will come back again though not to the same terrible place for staying overnight. At least not with this company.
And one recommendation. Never go there if it is hot. It is like a sauna in summer.

I was pleasantly surprised by Verona.
I was pleasantly surprised by Verona. It has charm, walkability, feels safe and was a great intro to our Italy trip. We stayed right on the river and the location was perfect to explore the old part of town, as well as cross the river. I could have stayed a few more days! It was pretty busy, being the start of summer, but we never had trouble finding great spots to eat and hang out. The market area and shops are fun and it offered a little bit of everything. When you go to see Juliet's balcony, stop in the store right out front where they custom sew a name and message on an apron, etc for a fun personalized gift.

Verona is a delightful clean city with narrow streets, many old buildings and upmarket shopping. Whilst busy during the summer opera season, it is far less frenetic than Venice and has more to offer for a three night stay. Visitors, in my experience, are more discerning than the hordes in Venice. It is also close to Lake Garda for day visits to Sirmione, for example. Buy the Verona Pass for good value.

A small but sophisticated city with lots of art, culture and history, much in walking distance and regular hop on hop off bus routes. High end shops, great gelaterie, huge choice of cafes and restaurants. Palazzo Maffei art gallery highly rated. The arena is much renovated so not a great feeling of history, Good archaeological museum next to the Roman theatre and worth going up the bell tower in Piazza d'Erbe for views over teh city. Duomo complex very much worth the visit, 4 churches built over or adjacent to each other over the centuries.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The location of hotel in a wide leafy street was perfect in terms of Verona train station ( 10 mins walk), old town( 10 mins walk) , airport 15 minutes by car or airlink bus ( only 7 euro each and at train station). Beds very comfortable and room big ( adult and two tall teens ), good selection at breakfast and lots of it.
The hotel is in an absolutely amazing location and the staff were fantastic. The hotel was really clean and the rooms were comfortable and much bigger than expected for Italy. The roof top bar was also amazing and we LOVED our daily greetings from Mia (the dog!). Would absolutely stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting Verona.
Verona is the most beautiful city in Italy, and the Hotel Porta Palio is great value for the price. It has a free private parking garage on site. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is just an 8-10 minute taxi drive from old town Verona (8-12 Euros). The hotel breakfast was great, and we enjoyed our stay.
Stone throw from the Verona train and bus station so it’s very convenient to connect to the airport and other parts of Italy by public transport. The place is clean and comfortable the owner is very friendly and quick to respond . We choose the place as it’s handy location to catch an early flight back
