Lovely room, modern and pristine clean, nice bathroom and all amenities were there that i needed. Easy walk less than 10 mins from/to the train station, great for my needs as touring italy by train. The walk into Verona Old City took me around 17 mins which was of no concern for me, also all flat so an easy walk.a great location if planning to use Verona as your base to visit Lake Garda and Venice as i did. If i return to Verona will certainly use this hotel again.

FAQs about hotels in Verona

A Shakespearean Fairytale

A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalised in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.

Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.

Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheatre which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theatre whose remains are partly beneath a house.

The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which offer cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laidback and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.

Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

A city, but not too big.

A city, but not too big. Can see most, if not all sites by foot. Only 1.5 hours from Venice and Milan. Only 2-3 hours to Dolomites. Only 30 mins to Lake Garda. If Opera festival is on, a must visit. You don’t need to buy the expensive seats, great view from anywhere but some might need a cushion. Compared to Milan and Venice, restaurants are reasonably priced. Had a rental car so can’t comment about public transport. Car parks are expensive but probably not much more for full day parking in cities far less worth visiting in the UK. Had no issues with parking security. Some of the car park entrances are tight if you have SUV-sized vehicle. Only downside for us was the hot weather but you can’t blame the city for that.

Do not go in the summer.

Do not go in the summer. The city itself is gorgeous, of course, like most Europeans cities - lots of history and architecture. It was sweltering in June and it made it really hard to want to go explore when you're just sweating the whole time. The Hop On Hop Off bus we caught in Piazza Bra was really fun, if not a little hair raising because Italians drive like maniacs LOL holy crap it's lawless there. We went to Juliet's balcony and statue and still don't understand why touching the boob of a statue of a 13 year old girl is supposed to be good luck. Guisti Garden is nice but it's expensive to get in for a small garden but I think we missed the inside the house part, so maybe that was worth the cost. (the map wasn't totally clear) Also, I don't know what Italians have against air conditioning but public transportation in the summer is not fun when the bus is packed and they don't put on the AC! The hotels are pretty stingy with the AC also and most of the restaurants have patio seating and no AC inside.

We had 2 days in Verona and for me it was enough.

We had 2 days in Verona and for me it was enough. Took a walking tour to find our feet and then walked round on our own with a Tourist information map looking at the sights not included on the tour. It's not the prettist place I've been to, but if I was into opera I might have found it a bit more exciting. Not somewhere where I will return to, but glad I've seen it.

Everything is in a walking distance. There is an awesome bridge close to the castle and really close to Arena. Great panorama view from the top of the hill next to a different castle. Nice walk close to the river. Old architecture makes impression, city looks amazing.

Verona is an ideal location in Italy when you want to discover other cities and Lake Garda. There are many bus (local and flixbus) and train connections available that take you to other beautiful places. The people are very warm and kind and are generally open to help when needed. Verona is a small city and can be seen in one day. The touristic areas are overpriced in food and drinks but that's part of tourism.

A lovely old town, still surrounded by its medieval town walls. The Roman amphitheatre is impressive and has been adapted to host cultural events. We went to see Aida which was an amazing experience. Every opera fan must go there at least once.
