FAQs about hotels in Verona

A Shakespearean Fairytale

A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.

Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.

Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.

The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.

Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Easy to walk around the main sights particularly the Arena and Castelvecchio bridge. To see Juliets balcony you now need to book to get to see it ( you can catch a sight of it at the exit) There are great restaurants and bars. It's a clean city and the HoHo bus is good for seeing spots slightly further out. There are good transportation links to other other areas too.

if you are an opera fan or simply want to experience watching a performance in an open-air Roman colosseum, Verona is not to be missed! It is all about the Verona Arena, which is amazing. The city also has other attractions such as the Romeo and Giulietta house, decent shopping and good restaurants. Also, Venice is about a 1 hour train ride from Verona, good for a day trip.

We stayed in Verona overnight en route between Madonna di Campiglio and Venice. Verona was a great city to visit for the afternoon and evening. Clean and not crowded. Visit when there is a performance by the Verona Opera in the city's 2000 year-old arena. It was wonderful.

Great place to visit for a weekend, go to the opera, eat out and see historic sites or for a longer stay if you want to travel to nearby places like Venice or Lago Di Garda. Lots of very good restaurants in Verona.

The old town of Verona has a specific charm and a long history with plenty to see and explore. With the majority of it now pedestrianised, it is an easy place to walk around, with plenty to see and lots of street cafe's and restaurants to stop at for food and refreshment. The people all seemed very friendly and the town had a very relaxed atmosphere. The old Arena is a venue not to be missed, it is a true spectacle of history, and if you are fortunate enough to go to an opera there (which we were!!) it is just spectacular.

Everything felt very clean. I had a room with a shared kitchen and even that was kept really clean. My brother who's working in Italy was able to stay for 2 night for an extra charge, this was super nice. He could even park his car in the garage. Neighborhood is alright, not too far from Verona's city center. From Verona you can easily take the train to other cities which is perfect! Bonus points for the Pizza Express on the corner of the street!

A perfect place to stay in Verona. Just over 10 minutes walk to the Arena, but a really quiet and beautiful old area that felt more like some small country town. The building and the facilities were exceptional, and had far more character than some modern hotel. Françoise, our host, was friendly and helpful, and can organise a car from or to the airport. Very highly recommended.

Excellent hotel located in the very center, right next to the Arena di Verona and other attractions of the city. Very nice and helpful staff. The breakfast they serve is one of the best, if not the best in all of Italy (and probably not only).
