The room looks newly renovated, big and clean! Facilities are quite completed. Glad there’s heater for the colder season. Quite a distance from train station but there’s buses from the nearby station and Aisuwakamatsu station. Staffs are very friendly and helpful with our queries.

So beautiful with a traditional yet modern feel to it. The staff were amazing and completed a few requests for my partners birthday which were waiting in the room on arrival. The private onsen room we had was so gorgeous and we plan to visit again in the future should we be back in Japan.

Its not that easy to get around, if you are not driving. mainly by bus or walking, but there's not a lot of tourists, so its quiet and nice. There's a crafter centre- Akabeko Crafter Bansho, which is great for kids and rainy day activity. The kids get to paint a akabeko of their choice (there are different sizes). We didn't get to go around much as it was raining, but the Tsuruga castle was beautiful even then and we would love to go back next time in spring.

Aizu Wakamatsu has a lot of interesting history.
Aizu Wakamatsu has a lot of interesting history. You can visit the castle, botanical gardens and Sazaedo. There is a national park close by so renting a car and exploring the countryside is highly recommended. A trip down to Ouchijuku and a foot spa along the way takes half a day and it takes a day to travel on the Skyline to Azumakofuji, a volcano which sometimes omits gasses, so the road maybe closed. One or two days is definitely not enough to discover this amazing area.

Aizu is a perfect spot for a 2-3 day trip.
Aizu is a perfect spot for a 2-3 day trip. I liked particularly the castle, which is just gorgeous now in winter. And I bet it is beautiful also in other seasons as well. On top of that I enjoyed other attractions too.

This is a great place, and all the sites are in a roughly 10 kilometer circle from the station. I put my suitcase in a locker at the station for the day, then rented a bicycle for ¥500 from a shop 800 meters from the station. (Turn right at the street in front of the station. The shop is on the left 800 meters down.)
I realized later that there is a tourist bus that stops at all the sites and has a running commentary on where you are. That would have been more practical for me. The bus costs ¥600 yen for a day pass, which can be bought at the bus station in front of the train station.

Aizu Wakamatsu is a nice place.
Aizu Wakamatsu is a nice place. It’s not very touristy but the tourist bus is a great way to get around and see all the main sights. One day wasn’t long enough. I think two days would be sufficient. There weren’t many restaurants open during lunchtime

We love this beautiful and huge hotel - nice room - we love the onsen - they inter switch so you get to experience both sites . Very nice outdoor onsen - I would imagine when it snows .. Breakfast is excellent
quite rare Onsen-ryokan originally built 100 years ago and still keeps its 60‘s interior and service style. my stay was full of nostalgia, thank all guys who support this hotel.
The staff at this property are amazing. How they are still there is baffling. The hotel itself it’s enormous - and we felt we were the only ones there.
