Prime location, right next to the gardens and along the moat of Banna-ji, the second oldest temple in the country and the Ashikaga school, in the heart of the historic and picturesque part of Ashikaga. You can eat your breakfast while looking at the crown of a 500 year old ginko tree. The area is very quiet. The staff is kind and accommodating. It’s a one man show per shift, so be kind. There is a family feel to the place and a nostalgic feel - the clocks are analog, the sink fixtures have two knobs, you leave your key at the front desk when you go out for the day…the way hotels were when I was growing up. Old fashioned but very clean.
