Location is very nice. Front desk staff was very helpful. The dark sand beach in front is very large place, ideal for morning and sunset walks and other activities. Great breakfast, friendly staff. We liked the traditional style of the hotel and the optional themed dinners during our stay. Parking and pool. Great advantage is the car rental office on the premises.
The main beach street starts from Oasis and has nice views of the Sea of Cortez and the bay.

Based on only 2 days in Loreto, we enjoyed the central plaza with its old church, great dining opportunities - we tried Mi Loreto and Mita Gourmet. Also took a boat tour around Coronado Island - highly recommended. Charming ambience, friendly people.

Small town, very friendly and helpful people.
Small town, very friendly and helpful people. Lots of tour vendors and shops, but no one is pushy. Walked about 20 minutes away from tourist area to a very good restaurant - Domingo's. Worth the walk. Easy to find, felt safe all the way.

After a couple of days there, we looked up crime statistics. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the average number of crimes committed in the city was almost none! We walked home at night, since everything was within walking distance, stopped and had tacos from vendors on the streets. It was the most peaceful place, we’ve already booked our return trip in July.

Loreto surpassed our expectations.
Loreto surpassed our expectations. The scenery to and into Loreto is breathtaking. The scenery to the San Javier mission is stunning. The 17th century mission and it's history is well worth travelling to see. Loreto was worth the 4.5 hour drive from La Paz, where we are living for six months. We will definitely return to hike the Mesquite Canyon trail and take a trip to isle of Coronado to see the see lions and birds. Not a big snorkeler, but relaxing on the beach will be ok for me. We wanted to extend our visit for an extra day, but we forgot my husband's medication.

My situation might be a little different than most travelers because I drove down from Calif with friends that live in Loreto and who knew the best places to go, so everywhere I went with them was great. Favorite bar and margarita at Vics. Pablano for tacos. All the restaurants around the Mission are very good. Coffee, sodas and water are expensive often as much as the main course. There are many renovations and improvements to the historic Mission district in Loreto on-going. The beach adjacent to the lighthouse is wonderful and the esplanade along the waterfront is very nice to walk. Great airport, very small, but very nice.

If you are not into fishing a long weekend would do.
If you are not into fishing a long weekend would do. It is a small town and can be expensive, but not as expensive as Cabo. We went for six days and it was our first time. There are tours also, but pricey. We walked around town and took the San Javier Mission tour and the Coronado island tour. Had a good time. People in Loreto were very friendly and at no time did we fear for our safety. We will go back again. Gods willing.
We initially had trouble locating the place. The name and partial address were not sufficient but eventually a local person helped us to find the correct place.
But, besides that, the location was great. Two easy blocks away from the mission plaza area, shops and a fantastic bar/grill called Zapatas.
This is not a luxurious hotel, no view, but the place was ultra clean, beds comfy, water very hot and that is all we needed before we left the next day for a sea kayak trip.
The customer service was excellent, from all their employees. Our original room has a bathroom leak, after figuring out it would need repair they upgraded our room to a suite. The location was also excellent. Breakfast which is included was also very good. Friendly atmosphere. The hotel isn't fancy and we could have opted to stay at a hotel with more luxuries and commodities, but it was a great experience that we would come back to this hotel anytime we visit again.
All the exterior areas of the hotel and the view. The beach is very nice and the water is calm. You can see fishes, pelicans and all. The staff is very relaxed and friendly. You can borrow kayaks for an hour for free everyday. It's safe to walk around at any time, if you want to go to the few restaurants around.
WiFi is good everywhere on the property even on the beach.
You can book tours but the best part is to do nothing.
One of my best hotel experiences ever. The location is top, just 2 blocks from Loreto's main square. Nice shady courtyard with a hammoch. Water dispenser to refill water bottles anytime. WIFI fast, amenities modern and decoration tasteful. And the best of it all - Liz and her team are super care taking, very friendly, really make you feel at home. Definitely the best accomodation I stayed at on my Baja California trip.
Our host, Haydee, was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel right at home. The cleanliness of the room, including all the amenities, was impeccable, which added to my overall comfort and enjoyment. One of the highlights was the property's location, just a short walk away from the city center, restaurants and the Malecon de Loreto.
Loreto is a beautiful place. Clean beaches and the facility is only 12 years old. I like the made to order restaurants. The food is a better quality than other all inclusive resorts. I felt safe , but we never left the resort. I also liked they had tennis and pickelball courts.
The staff were all very friendly. Our room was cleaned daily and we had a nice kitchen and fridge in our suite that allowed us to cook some meals in the hotel. The beds were comfortable, and central temperature control allowed us to change the temperature to our comfort.
The hotel was immaculate, well-designed and felt intimate. The best part of the stay was the service provided by the manager, Alejandro, who was friendly, accommodating & capable. He helped with a couple of requests which he clearly went of his way to assist with.
We left a garment bag in our room and when we called the hotel they promptly retrieved it and kept it for us until we could pick it up.
The girl at the office was very helpful giving us directions on where to eat dinner. The room was spotless.
Very nice boutique hotel. Fully met our expectations. The staff was extremely accommodating and kind. Location is great, right next to the malecón, shops and restaurants...and the hotel offers parking. Will definitely stay there again.
Very nice. We spent 1 night only but, the mission is within walking distance as well as shops, and restaurants. I thought the hotel was steps from the ocean but it is not. The kitchenette is nice if you're staying for a few days.
Perfect location on the main walking street in Loreto.
Super convenient and quiet at night with nice live music from the nearby restaurant in the evenings.
Very comfortable and clean, brand new apartment.
The staff were terrific. The hotel was clean and in a great location. Catching sun at the pool isn’t an option after 2pm because the sun falls behind the building- which was a bummer!!!
Hotel 1697 was in a great location in the heart of town. Breakfast was delicious.
El Zopilote Brewing Company & Restaurant right next to hotel had amazing food.
