Nice hotel close to the airport, we were just travelling through Mexico City so did not spend alot of time there. The room was clean and very comfortable, they provided tea, coffee and cookies at a station on each floor, which I thought was a lovely touch. We caught the shuttle both ways, they have a small booth in Terminal 1 where you can wait, which was very handy.

FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

I have mixed feelings about CDMX.

I have mixed feelings about CDMX. It is a large vibrant city with plenty of museums, at least several nice neighborhoods (we stayed in Polanco and Condesa), lots of parks, tree-lined streets, many restaurants, etc. The Archaeological Museum (not to be missed) and Palacio de Belles Artes were among our favorites. The Diego Rivera waterworks project in Chapultepec and Saturday Art Bazaar in San Angel also were both interesting. Unfortunately, the vibrant food culture made our intestines vibrate. We got very food sick, twice, within our two-week visit, despite thinking we were being very careful about what and where we ate. So, with several down days due to stomach issues, we didn't get to do or see about half the things we had planned. Plus a city cab driver tried to put $1300 US in fraudulent charges on our credit cards, which then took us the better part of a couple days to get straightened out (lesson learned - only use UBERs, which worked great for us - and only pay in cash if we ever again need to take a cab in CDMX (cabs not recommended after our experience, which is a shame to have to think like that). Having said that, we did have some very good meals, saw some quite interesting architecture, art, and such (with a lot more available that we didn't get to see), and we enjoyed our time wandering the parks/neighborhoods with others who were out and about - lots of activity. People were friendly, speaking at least beginner Spanish is very helpful. So, lots to recommend, but the food sickness issue and cab theft both soured us on the place. It unfortunately may be a while before we return to experience more of this vibrant city.

We found Mexico City on the same par as Barcelona or Lima in terms of its historical beauty, culture, food, modern and up-beat vibe and as well as its safety. At no time did we think that we were in danger or felt watched by would-be thieves. The locals are very polite and helpful and if you speak Spanish then you will feel right at home. The food was great and you do have lots of other options if you get tired with eating tacos. Loved CDMX a lot and will plan to come back again!!

Coyoacan was one of my favorite towns, the church its beautiful. I ate a lot of different Mexican cuisine, but once you get tire of it, its is very easy to find anything else. Uber was my main transportation, cheap and quick. We did different activities like museums (The anthropology national is a must). The Teotihuacán pyramids with the balloon ride was nice. The trajineras ride in Xochimilco, The basilica of Guadalupe is pretty nice. Don't miss going to the Lucha libre, its fun.

Upsides: Good food, vibrant arts + culture scene, very friendly people, exotic Downsides: Terrible and lawless traffic, air pollution, widespread poverty. I only feel safe walking in a small part of the city felt like i will get mugged any second.

The City was vibrant with sellers on the streets and in the markets. I liked seeing all the beautiful, artistic murals on the walls of public buildings and spaces - outstanding graphic designs! Friendly people, ready to help you with getting around, especially if your Spanish is not fluent. The restaurant at Flamencos Hotel was a good eating spot with delicious food at reasonable prices. Meals in the nearby market - Mexico Centro, were also tasty and inexpensive. One of the easiest ways to get around is by Uber - safe, convenient and costs less than taxi. A place to visit, for an entire day's trip, is Chapultepec Park also known as Bosque de Chapultepec. It is said to be one of the world's largest city parks and it is closely linked to several key events in Mexican history. You can enjoy a boat ride while you are there. For Starbucks lovers, there is one located at the park. Another must see is San Juan Teotihuacan. This place boasts the largest pyramid in the world. Go for a climb if you are physically fit and brave. There are several great restaurants to choose from and for souvenirs and gifts, you can get these from any of the many vendors at the location. Please negotiate the price to get value for money. The Casa Azul or Museum of Frida Kahlo, is another spot worth visiting if you are interested in art. The house was the home of the late artist Frida Kahlo and it celebrates her life work and history. Mexico City was worth the 4-day visit and I will do it again for a longer stay, because there is so much to explore. I highly recommend the City as a great tourist destination.

Excellent location in Reforma, Mexico City. We stayed 4 night in a junior suite on the 2nd floor is quite quiet (except for the door banging sound from people closing the ice box door. Hotel serves average breakfast but it very generous as they let guest pack food away by providing boxes and bags for take away. The area is very safe to walk about even at night and is next to a shopping mall with plenty of ATMs, eating and shopping choices. It is also not far from Zocalo by car. Housekeeping is very good.

We stayed there twice in our trip to Mexico City. They kept our luggage when we went to Cancun. There was roomservice and the cleaning of the hotelroom was very good. Rooms had al lot of space with a big TV. The location was about 15 min from centro Historico. Behind the hotel you have Mercado Ciadatel. That was such a nice indoor market where you can buy Mexican clothes, souvenirs etc. Great prices!
