The staff is very friendly and kindly to introduce Alkmaar places. The room is really clean and elegant. We enjoyed a lot.

The location was perfect for me. It was close to the railway station and downtown area.

This was simply one of the most unique hotels we've stayed at, simply because of its unique history and conversion into a hotel. The feeling of a modern hotel was achieved without losing a very strong connection to what it used to be. A prison. When I first walked into the cell block where the rooms are I literally felt like I had walked into Shawshank prison. Somehow the remodeling kept that eerie feeling while simultaneously giving you the feeling you are in a very nice hotel. This is a strange and unique thing to achieve, and I couldn't have been happier to step into our converted cell(s) to find again the luxurious room was fitted without completely losing the character of what it once was. Highly recommend this hotel if you enjoy something different from all the others.

The studio was large. The beds big and comfortable. Quiet place although the train station is few tens of meters away. Easy to get there. Staff pleasant and helpful. The design of the studio was unique, the furniture itself was nice, and the geometry was also specific. The room is not strictly rectangular. That was adding some visual effects to the bed.

Beautiful hotel at a perfect location, right at the city center! Very clean, comfortable and everything we needed was included in the room! We had a very pleasant stay and we will for sure come back when we visit alkmaar again! We highly recommend it!

I like the provided breakfast prepared on ones preferences. The staff is very kind. Room and bathroom are comfortable and clean. Room comes with a mini fridge.

We were right in the town Plaza area and on the canal. The breakfast was great for €19.50 each. This area is much calmer for traffic of all kinds than Amsterdam so it was a nice, easy side trip. Very convenient to Beer 🍺 and Cheese 🧀 Museums.

An approximate 11 minute walk from the train station, the room is above the Hofman restaurant where one checks in and out. The staff were cheerful and helpful. The Dutch stairs up to the room were expected and were fairly steep but was only one floor up so you should factor this in the equation. It is directly across from the beautiful and historic Grote Sint-Laurenskerk (Saint Laurens church) at which the pedestrian-only street, full of shops and restaurants, starts. The main square which features the famous Friday cheese market is a few minutes away. Although the church bells went off all night (there were free ear plugs in the room), street and restaurant noise was never an issue. The room was plenty big with a comfortable bed and nice sized bathroom with a spacious shower and good water pressure and hot water. A large grocery store was around the corner.

Very very nice owner lady, friendly and helpful. Great location, few minutes by walking from the center of the village and beautiful huge park. Very nice, cozy and bright house and room. Full of interesting art and design pieces. The room was good size, very clean and tidy. It's nice that we could adjust the temperature in the room. Huge shower. The kitchen/living area is large and has everything you need ans there is a coffee machine too. Good size parking space. Amazing value for money

The location was just perfect, easy to walk around Alkmaar Centrum and explore, find good places to have coffee and food. Sophie, one of the owners, was simply the nicest person, chatting with us, assisting with luggage, giving us a map and pointing out where we should go. The beds were so comfortable, and the very large dining table was perfect for spreading out computers and food/drink. I'm a little sad we only got to spend one night there (emergency booking because of an error I'd made in Airbnb reservations), but I would most certainly return for a longer period of time on my next trip.

If we go to Bergen we always stay on Marijke. It has a charm even if the facility may need some renovations
