We had a lovely stay here—everything was comfortable and convenient. The location is ideal, and the atmosphere is genuinely pleasant. This is a third visit and we will be visiting again soon. Do treat yourself to a cup of coffee, even if you don’t stay here—it’s worth it! ☕️

NH hotel has some of the best staff I've encountered at a hotel. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast had a lot of options which was very good, I was extremely impressed. The location is also a great point for them; a less than 10 minute walk from both the train station and the city center. All in all a great stay in Amersfoort!

Breakfast was excellent. Super varied and complete! It was truly a continental breakfast, Dutch style :D The hotel was very well maintained, fancy and it kept its traditional style without falling apart. Congrats for up keeping it. Hope to return, it was a good break from Utrecht tiny hotels with exorbitant prices. I recommend staying here :)

Amersfoort is one of the most underrated places to visit in...

Amersfoort is one of the most underrated places to visit in the Netherlands, but I am biased as I used to live there. It has a well-preserved city centre with a very high proportion of old architecture. There is the famous Koppelpoort city gate, which is the most famous landmark. Make sure that you walk the length of Muurhuizen street, which takes in the inside houses of the old city wall. There is a very nice park outside of the city walls that is worth a visit, and it takes you past some of the other old defence towers of the walls. The artist Piet Mondrian had his home there and you can visit the museum on Kortegracht, a brief stroll away from the central area of Amersfoort, and was formerly a part of the canal landscape. You can take trips on tourist boats around the city canals and there are any number of fine eateries in the city. The markt has a fine church with bells that chime the hours. With two nice gelato stores, you can eat good ice cream while enjoying the historic centre on summer evenings. Time spent in Amersfoort is never wasted time.

The city is famous for medieval Koppelpoort gate and...

The city is famous for medieval Koppelpoort gate and Kamperbinnenpoort, both beautiful just make sure to visit the adjacent Local history Museum Flehite, it is in 3 medieval houses, with themed art & artifacts. Take the time to walk and explore this charming and very under rated city. The city is easily cycled but walking it ensures you do not miss the best bits. Lots of small streets and original architecture, and a nice town centre of shops, a beautiful hof, and nice market two days a week below the toren. I urge you to walk the entire length of Muurhuizen (Houses within the city wall), a lovely evening walk at any time of the year. Also, walk the parks on the other side of the old city wall, especially in autumn. There are some nice cafes/restaurants, for Koffie and gebak. I recommend Koffie Corazon on de Krommestraat, they bake all of their own goods and it's a nice atmosphere. De Krommestraat and De Kamp streets offer a more artisanal and boutique experience of shopping, very worthwhile. For summer afternoons and evenings, there are two very good gelato stores on Langestraat. Langestraat is the pedestrian shopping street with lots of stores, both small and large. While walking Langestraat you will pass the old fish market at the top of Kortegracht. Thirty meters down this tree lined canal street is the former home, now museum of the artists Piet Modriaan. While his name might not mean anything to you I can assure you that you will have seen reflections of his work all over the world. Twentyfive years ago I lived in Amersfoort in a tiny, cold little apartment but the many charms of this little city pulls me back any time I pass near it's gravity well. Allow it to pull you in too, you will not regret it.

Amersfoort is a small but very charming city.

Amersfoort is a small but very charming city. If you are a fan of the painter Mondrian, it is a definite destination, as hi childhood home is now a very interesting museum dedicate to his life and work. That water-castle that always shows up on pictures of the town is somewhat misleading, on the pictures it looks like a castle but it's not very large. The canals are very charming ans you should definitely take one of the canal boat rides. The canal boat and the Mondrian house were the two high points of the visit.

Amersfoort is a beautiful historic city.

Amersfoort is a beautiful historic city. Shopping is great, lovely christmas decorations around town and a cute square with cafe's. We enjoyed a lunch at Broei - delicious vegan food. Also went to Petit Marie for dinner, French a la carte menu, absolutely fantastic service and here again delicious food. Getting around Amersfoort is easy, everything is pretty much walking distance.

Lovely historic Centrum that's well-preserved, easy to explore on foot, and that one can truly absorb in a few days. The surrounding "new town" seems vibrant and nicely laid out, with plenty of areas to explore, walks to take, and things to do that could occupy many more days, with multiple return-visits to the Centrum to gaze at the architecture and eat and shop. Very happy that I took a little time to stop in, and would have loved to make it a base for exploring the surrounding area for an additional week (or more); noting that you can always hop the train for day-trips to surrounding towns. Alas, life was calling, and I had to move on...

The city center was so cute!

The city center was so cute! The street by the wall houses is a nice walk to take, so many picturesque houses! It is quite a small city so 1-2 days are enough if you want to take a one day trip here. The square at the Church of our lady was beautiful, and the market on the main square had a lot of fresh produce and an insane amount of cheese to choose from. Also, as in all of the Netherlands, LOVE the second hand shops!

Thank you so much to Louise for letting me in so late (midnight on Friday) and for helping me with my luggage, really appreciate it. Overall the hotel was what I needed as I attended a wedding near Amersfoort, and was grateful for the clear check-in instructions, that there was in the end someone there to greet me, for how clean the room and overall the hotel is, and that I could leave my bags there for a couple of hours after check out.
