1. Helpful staff. We would message them thru the booking app and they would quickly answer. Things we need more of, they would gladly bring. Note: it is an easy, self check in and out kind of hotel. 2. We asked them if they know of a place to print and send docs internationally. They let us send our docs to their email and had the docs printed and in our room before we arrived. 3. We walked from train station to the hotel with our luggage. We walked from hotel to bus station upon departure bec Uber did not arrive m. Not too near but doable. 4. Bergen Cathedral is right outside of hotel. Many restos and cafes near hotel. 5. Walking distance to the shopping plaza and even the Floyen cable car.

FAQs about hotels in Bergen

Picture-Postcard Norway

Gateway to the western fjords, Bergen is a picture-perfect postcard of Norway at its best. Colorful, wooden houses in UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bryggen contrast wonderfully with the lush greenery of the surrounding Seven Mountains.

For fantastic views of Norway’s 2nd largest city, hop on the cable car to Ulriken Mountain. Alternatively, hike or take the funicular railway up to Fløyen Mountain. With beaches sheltered from the North Sea by islands, Bergen is Norway’s busiest port and a popular starting point for fjord cruises and deep sea fishing.

The fish market in the narrow streets of the historic centre is a popular attraction, while just north is 12th-century St Mary’s Church. Around 1,000 years younger is Bergenhus, one of Norway’s best-preserved forts. Further north is Gamle Bergen, a reconstructed wooden village offering insight into the past.

Cobbled Strandgaten street and Lagunen Storsenter shopping center are just some shopping options, but items aren’t cheap. As you wander around the city look for work by Dolk, Norway’s best-known street artist. Other cultural attractions include many museums and a good music scene ranging from classic to indie.

Booking.com’s range of Bergen accommodation extends out towards Bergen Airport in Flesland, the departure point for many workers on the offshore oil and gas rigs.

The city is clean, peaceful, absolutely gorgeous, and the convenient and easy access to the Norwegian fyords make it a must-visit and should be in everybody's bucket list of once-in-a-lifetime’s. Good restaurants abound and probably no one will leave without having been spoiled for choices.

Wet. Wet. Wet. It’s the middle of summer.

Wet. Wet. Wet. It’s the middle of summer. Take your wet weather gear. Lovely city. Lots to see and do. Can’t move for cruising tourists. They’re everywhere. Think of the most expensive holiday you’ve had - double the cost and think of Bergen. Don’t bother with the hop on hop off bus. Waste of money. Everything on the route is walkable. If doing a Fjord cruise arrive early if it’s wet or you’ll not have a view. If you want a quiet holiday avoid.

Be aware that Bergen is a very rainy city, with about 240 days of rain per year. Come prepared with layers of clothing plus a rain jacket and umbrella, and plan for activities that will take you indoors if you need a break from the rainy weather. One day we visited the Edvard Grieg Museum, which is about 20 minutes outside of the city center, and enjoyed two 30-minute concerts in a gorgeous venue on the premises. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and diverse area - you have sea, islands, mountains and the city itself. Fløyen is a forest-covered relaxation area, worth to visit with children. Ulriken is a more rugged mountain landscape, great for mountain hiking around the area. Both provide great view on the city. Akvarient was a little dissappointing for my 10 y.o. - if you seen some big oceanarium before, you can skip it. He loved VilVite Science Center, though - we actually spend two full days in there when it was raining. You will visit Bryggen of course, but find some time to see Nøstet as well. Not as old and popular, but for me it was iconic Norway. We had two fjord cruises: to Eidfjord (Hardangerfjord) and to Flåm (Sognefjord). If you had to pick one, I think I'd recommend Sognefjord more, as you can experience not only beautiful fjord, but also some skerry as well along the way. Though Vik in Eidfjord had THE best fish soup we had during the whole stay (and I tried fiskesuppe everywhere).

The scenery is stunning around Bergen.

The scenery is stunning around Bergen. Trips to Floyen and Ulriken are definitely worth it. The Flom railway is a trip you must take. The Viking Village was very interesting. However, the cruise back to Bergen along the Sognefjord was a little disappointing because we joined the queue to get on the boat too late. This meant the only seats where the 3 of us could sit together was in the middle where we couldn't see the view. The window seats were taken up by selfish people with 1 seat for them and 2 seats for their bags; or by people who were too busy playing cards or looking at their phones but not looking out the windows. We got better views outside, but be prepared to stand as the seats fill up rapidly. Also take cold weather clothes because even on a sunny day it is very chilly and windy outside. We preferred the Mostraumen fjord cruise as our boat could only take 93 people, and there just seemed to be more room. Bergen itself is great. Everything is close by and were within walking distance from our apartment. Download the SKYSS app if you are using public transport as we found it invaluable. The Bergen Card is worth it if you are looking around the city for 3-4 days and using public transport. It's probably not worth it if you are staying for only 1 day. We also used it to get free/reduced cost into many museums. If we had paid full price, then we would have felt that some weren't worth the entrance fee, but we didn't mind as we had the Bergen Card. Bergen is expensive compared to the UK with a pint of beer being at least £11, energy drinks being £6 and standard chocolate bars being £3-4. It gave my wife and I a chance to diet but it cost a fortune keeping our teenage boy happy!

We expected a budget airport hotel, but we're very pleasantly surprised with an impressive beautiful atrium, very friendly staff, and a nicely decorated, large room. We were only there to sleep and only for about 7 hours, so didn't get a chance to try the restaurant or any other facilities. But we had great showers in the clean and modern bathroom, and slept amazingly on such comfy beds. We were very impressed and made a note to look out for Scandic hotels for future Norway holidays.

The hotel looks amazing, personel made check in even before 15:00. The best breakfast I have ever had. Also was fine to have really hot water in Norway, but temperature in the room was slightly cold,”: Only one downside which change impression about our stay is veryyyyyy loud music till 1 or 2 a.m. was impossible to sleep and we hear dancing movements “on our heads”.
