Excellent location in the heart of the city. Clean and comfortable room, perfect for 3 days. Very helpful staff and what is crucial free of charge luggage storage where you can leave bags before check in and after check out. Nice space with modern facilities. I would truly recommend Oslo City Box especially because of the great location and the adequet price.

Probably the best hotel where I have stayed in recent times. There was everything necessary in the room, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning was working (important because we have stayed there when it was 28 degrees outside in Oslo), and the food at breakfast was good. The location of this hotel is superb. With all said, the price for the night is probably reasonable.

FAQs about hotels in Oslo

Into the Wild in Oslo

Spreading for hundreds of kilometres from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.

For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular, are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.

From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.

If you’re visiting in the summertime, be warned that with 18+ hours of sunlight and temperature now reaching the mid 80s, these hotels do not have air conditioning. It’s extremely uncomfortable to travel and stay in the city in the summer time.

Quite a lot to see in the central city, but also a key transport hub for accessing southern Norway or catching a plane or boat to the north. I spent a few days seeing most of the interesting spots in the central city. I walked everywhere. It was early spring, so still a bit cold for most tourists, but there was still good cross-country skiing at higher elevations in the south.

Very disappointingly I got scammed by an Apartment rental on booking.com and the response from booking.com was also very poor. I was forced to book another property to stay in and have lost my money taken by the website for the scammer. Besides that nasty experience, 3 days or 4 days seems just about right to see the main touristy places in Oslo. The much spoken of Viking museum is set to open in 2027 and some items are exhibited elsewhere. The food is great in many places and it's very organized and easy to get around. Radisson blu hotel was just wonderful.

    Harbour and waterfront magnificent.

Harbour and waterfront magnificent. Fortress overlooking the harbour a must visit as well as a cruise especially on the older sailing ships. The palace worth the walk! Compared to Stockholm or Copenhagen the footpaths were not as good and the city not as clean. A real mix of cultures visiting! For me a once only visit but still worth the trip!

Loved Oslo, compact town with lots to do.

Loved Oslo, compact town with lots to do. I visited the Arctic and Kon Tiki museums, as well as the Munch Museum and the Sculpture Park. Also did a guided electric bike tour which was great. Weather was perfect which helped. I travelled to Oslo from Bergen, via the Norway in a Nutshell tour, which was great - see Bergen (beautiful town) fjords, lots of waterfalls, and the alpine tundra.

The museums, especially the Munch and Fram were excellent. The waterside is lovely. Oslo is well connected. We easily travelled to the far North by air and to Bergen on a fantastic rail journey. One thing to be aware of is that some tourist sites such as the castle shut at 4pm and all shops close on Sunday

The location is about a 20-30 min walk from the centre, but we knew this and we booked this on purpose, as I had read that Oslo city centre can be quite noisy in the evenings especially at the weekends and as our trip was over a Thursday / Friday / Saturday night stay, this is the reason we opted for this hotel. If you don't want to walk, there is a very good tram system to use to get around. The hotel was good, had a nice boutique feel to it and the breakfast was excellent with a large selection of very good quality items!

Great location with a few spots to unload luggage in front of the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. The gym in the basement was clean, spacious and had good equipment. The room was clean and comfy, with large floor to ceiling windows. The breakfast was what nudged our rating up to a 9. The breakfast room was large and airy. The breakfast itself was of high quality with so many options. We splurged on a 5 star breakfast at the Britannia in Trondheim later in the trip and both agreed that the Karl Johan was better.

Breakfast was excelent! Probably one of the best breakfast I ever had and very diverse. Location was also great, near train station (2-3 minutes walking), only 1 station to the city center. You don’t need a car, it’s the best option to use the train (3 minutes journey to National Theatre), actually I left my car in the garage (20 euro/day). The hotel is a good value for money.
