FAQs about hotels in Oslo

Into the Wild in Oslo

Spreading for hundreds of miles from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.

For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.

From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.

Nice city, quite pricey but many things to see.

Nice city, quite pricey but many things to see. There are lot of museums, art, history, and about everything. Fjord cruise is recommended, and the Viking Planet Experience is really worth the money if you are interested. Lot of information and very modern, the entrance also include a VR movie. Very good. The other thing which is MUST TRY, is the shared sauna. I went to KOK, it was fantastic. Easy booking online. You can jump in a fjord from the sauna roof!! Also bakeries are a completely other worldly… absolutely 5 star! My stay was almost everyday rainy, but didn’t stop me to explore. Could have stayed a few more days.

Oslo is one of the smallest capital cities in Europe but still there is a lot to do and to see. It doesnt matter if you like culture, nature, shopping - you will always find something that you will be happy to visit. There is a good transport system in the city and even if you want to visit Holmenkollen you can just use metro. There is lots of good restaurant and you can choose cousine from all over the world. Also if you are a fan of night life you will be happy and find options. I would recomend visiting Oslo during May or September because there is a good chance of nice weather but at the same time not as much turists as during main season June-August.

We had done some research about Oslo so we knew what we wanted to see. I loved the Deichman library, the Munch museum, the National Museum. Walking in Oslo is very easy and the city is incredibly quiet. Probably thanks to electric cars but also, there's not much traffic in the centre. We made full use of the Oslo 48 hours pass which gives you free transport and entry to most museums. The most spectacular place was the ski jump facility. The great thing is you can just go by metro. There was lots of snow which made it look really atmospheric. We went right to the top of the tower and saw countless skiers jumping. Eating was a bit of a problem. We found restaurants too expensive so we went to street food places. Cafes are excellent and price wise, the same as the UK. Going to pubs and restaurant is quite expensive especially for alcohol.

Book the Deluxe Double Room. The location is perfect and very close to everything. The lounge is severely underrated and should be visited by all who stay here. The chef was brought in and is amazing. Small menu, tried everything and it was all 5 star. The rooms can be surprisingly small in this hotel. The Deluxe Double rooms are on the front corner of the hotel and have the most space (see my fire exit picture). It is worth every penny for this space and it has the best view.
