I really enjoyed my stay at Radisson Red, Oslo. The Breakfast was probably the best that I've had at a hotel buffet. The Location is a bit far out from the centre but the train stop into the city centre is nearby. Also, there is a bus stop next to the hotel to travel to the Airport. There also shops and a nice bakery/ coffee shop within a few mins walking distance. All in all, really good service from everyone at the hotel, particularly Sundre who was very welcoming and offered good insights for places to visit in the city and I think is generally a cool guy.

The hotel is very well located, right between two metro lines and close to tram and bus stops, making it very easy to travel to Oslo's city center and to other city landmarks. Going from the hotel to the central station takes between 20 to 30 mins depending on the way of transportation chosen. The breakfast was really good, giving a wide variety of choices also for vegetarians or vegans , staff was very friendly and always willing to help. The room was big, clean and comfortable. I'd definitely book this hotel again.

FAQs about hotels in Oslo

Into the Wild in Oslo

Spreading for hundreds of miles from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.

For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.

From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.

Visit the Gardens with 200 statues good value (stop for ho and go bus) ...have a glass of wine at the garden restaurant:) Trains to and from the airport really good...no need to take expensive express....remember age over 67 travel for half price.

Very interesting city, a lot of things are within easy walking distance of the centre. Like all of Scandinavia it is on the expensive side when eating and drinking but not crazy (say £20 for a pizza which might be £15 in the UK). If you are a keen runner or athlete, a visit the the Bislett Stadium which you can use for free would be recommended. The Munch gallery was a good experience and reasonably priced. The west of the city (towards Frogner) would be recommended as it has nice restaurants, cafes and the Frogner Park. The waterfront also has lots of restaurants and bars with plenty of space to walk or run along the waterfront.

I have been to Oslo before, put didn't spend as much time as I liked. We took a motorcycle side car tour of the city. You really get to see and feel the city traveling this way. Only thing we didn't get to see was the Viking ship museum since it was under renovation. We will be back when this is open, and take a long driving tour around the country and go up to the northern lights.

Oslo was easy to get around-except for a ferry ride to the ‘museum peninsula’-we walked everywhere. It seemed very safe and was clean. The residents almost all spoke English and were very helpful to tourists. The 6 museums we visited were very interesting. The museums on Bygdøy are worth the visit. We also spent quite a bit of time in the Resistance Museum at Akershus Fortress. There were a lot of American fast food restaurants. The prices were more expensive than what we are used to seeing. The Egon Restaurant was one we ate at more than once.

Excellent stay - hotel and staff brilliant - our rooms were upgraded when we checked in so that always adds to the experience. Fabulous location away from the city centre - this was the 4th and final hotel / apartment of our tour of southern Norway and purposely chosen to be "a bit different" - certainly did not disappoint on that front. The nearby Ski museum was a highlight - the view from the top of the Ski Jump is breath taking, but confirmed my opinion of Ski Jumpers - they are truly mad!

This hotel was one of our absolute highlights during our Norway trip! We were greeted with heartiness and instantly felt super comfy. The pool was huge, sauna was nice too. Rooms were spacious and super tidy, and, in general, this more than 100 years old hotel showed the class of a Grand Hotel! On top, breakfast was outstanding. Really, we have travelled a lot but this experience was one of a kind! We definitely will return!
