Unique, arty, traditional and lively pretty much sums up the great mix that the island of Tromsø has to offer. The city is home to the unique Arctic Cathedral, an array of pubs, cafés and an energetic street culture.
If you’re planning a day of sightseeing be sure to visit Tromsø Museum, Polar Museum, the University Museum of Tromsø, Mack Brewery, and the Arctic Alpine Botanic Garden.
The city’s main square often holds a variety of markets and its streets are lined with colourful and old-style buildings and houses. Tromsø is one of the best places to view the amazing colours of the Northern Lights.
Nicknamed the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ due to being a launching point for polar expeditions, Tromsø provides numerous activities such as hiking and kayaking during summer, and skiing and dog-sledding in winter, all in a backdrop of eye-catching scenery.
Tromsø is easily accessible from major cities such as Tallinn, Oslo and Helsinki and Tromsø Airport has direct flights to various European destinations. Check-out Booking.com for a selection apartments and hotels in Tromsø and throughout Norway.
Tromso was fantastic. Plenty to do, lovely walks, friendly people, lots of restaurants and shops. Really beautiful. Just make sure to pack plenty of warm clothes for the winter! I would definitely recommend visiting Tromso if you get the chance. a unique, beautiful city.
We travelled to and from the airport by taxi which was easy, but seems there are also lost of local buses. The centre of town is extremely walkable.
We booked a Northern Lights tour while we were there and we were lucky enough to get to see them!
Something to note: we travelled over Easter weekend and quite a lot of the shops and restaurants were shut due to the holiday. There was enough open for us still to be able to eat out and the small local shop was open.

Must visit city in Norway especially in the winter.
Must visit city in Norway especially in the winter. Don't miss out on the Northern lights trips. If you are a nature lover, please drive down to the islands of Kvaløya & Sommarøy which has stunning sceneries. Fjellheisen cable car is another must visit as well. Tromso is magical in winter so plan your trip accordingly!!

It was rainy and snowy but we saw beautiful landscapes. I recommend renting a car. It is difficult to see outside the city without it. We went to kilpisjarvi too because we had a car. Great four days. 3 full days is enough. Beautiful northern lights

I recommend this apartment especially for its excellent location. The center is just a 5-minute walk away, the supermarket is 50 meters away, the bus stop is very close, etc. The beds were very comfortable, the heating was good, and the bathroom was very well-equipped. They left us fruit and chocolates as a welcome treat, which we really appreciated

Tromso proper is small and walkable, with a few museums to see (don't miss Polaria). Good restaurants (Bardus Bistro, Koseverden & Koselig Cafe). Did not go up to the cable car due to lack of good weather overlapping with free time.
Went on Northern Light hunts - recommend booking guided tours, specially for those without cars. Went to a Sami Reindeer ranch to learn about Sami culture and look at the reindeer up close, highly recommend. Also went on morning a cruise of the Arctic fjords.
Was there for 4 days 3 nights, which seemed like a good amount of time.

It was a great trip.
It was a great trip. A lot of people go for a few days but I went for a week so that I could fit in a bit more. All the trips I booked were very well organised, I would happily each one again. Northern lights with Greenlander (amazing Hans was fantastic finding the lights and driving in bad weather conditions), husky sledding with Tromso Wilderness centre, Night reindeer feeding and sledding with Artic Reindeer, boat trips all inclusive Polor fjord and fishing and Polar night trip with a chance to see the northern lights.
The food was excellent, Nyt, I had the reindeer streak twice. The views from the cable car breathtaking. I went to the midnight concert at the cathedral (the yellow one in the centre) and spent hours chilling at the Tromsobadet (swimming baths by the university)

I liked very much that it was well situated, it was really clean and it had everything I needed. I know the size of hotels in Norway is small, but I had a very big bathroom. There is no reception and the room is not cleaned daily, it functions more like a kind of rental appartment. There was a booking point in the lobby for the northern lights and I recommend booking with them, you have a discount for staying here. There is a Spar super next door, it was closed on Sundays.
The location is absolutely fantastic- I saw the Northern lights on the first night in Norway from my window and outside. John and Martha were very friendly and helpful and I had arranged to use their shuttle service (extra add-on) to get picked up at Eidkjosen after taking the No 42 bus from Tromso city centre. It made the travel more affordable and they were very helpful and flexible as far as possible. Kitchen is great and there is a box in the fridge for food.
We stayed twice at the hotel for one day, once when we arrived in Norway, and once when we left. That probably says it all. Very helpful and friendly staff, moderate pricing, clean, functional rooms (not overly big, but as expected) reduced to what you need, but in a nice way. Easy contactless check-in, if you need it. Noise was never an issue, although the hotel is pretty much downtown. Also easily accessible by bus from the airport, if needed.
The location is perfect. All of the tours (northern lights, dog sledding, reindeer, snow shoe hikes) pick you up somewhere around the radisson blu hotel and these apartments were just a 6 minute walk from there making it super convenient (especially for those 2am walks home after seeing the lights). The facilities were nice and it was great to have a washing machine and kitchen after a few weeks of travelling
The cleanliness, comfy bed, strong wifi signal, and heated bathroom floor were excellent. The breakfast had so many really good options
This hotel is located nearby from where all the tours to see the northern lights leave
