There is not a huge amount to see in Trondheim, but it was...
There is not a huge amount to see in Trondheim, but it was perfect to end a rail trip through Sweden there for 3 nights. It is easy to get around the city by foot or scooter. We took the tram to the forest which was great fun. This was a September visit; I imagine it would be nice to visit the city in the summer and go on a boat trip.

It is a clean city with great architecture and history and atmosphere.
Try Habitat for great beet and Mat fra Hagen for great vegan food.

It has a great feel to it and it's small enough to visit on foot and the railway station is centrally located.
Very disappointed with the cathedral, old town and museum there.
The folk museum just outside the town is brilliant with old buildings re-sited and furnished and equipped as they were in their heyday - anything from 1750 to early 20th century.
We ate very well in Trondheim, the people were friendly and helpful.
One thing to be aware and that is getting information isn't the easiest so research what you want to visit before you get there

Trondheim is a good place to spend a day or two particularly if hopping on or off a ferry whilst doing the Norwegian Coast route. Would not recommend as a destination in its own right for visits of more than 2 days.

The place is beautiful. If you can, rather book a hotel or backpackers hostels. My experience of booking an apartment was terrible. So if travelling for a big event, book well in advance, and book hotels!

We have got spectacular suite instead of booked standard room. It was very spacious with amazing view to fjord, Nidelva and channel as it was located on the roof level. Very helpfull staff, parking place within shopping center connected with the hotel and evening dinner included in room price are attitiude. All major city attractions as Nidelva houses and Nidaros within walking distance.

The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood within 30 minutes walk to the city center, Nidaros cathedral and NTNU. There is everything one would need very close to the apartment: groceries, playgrounds, bus stop. The apartment was very clean and the bed clothes provided were just fine. There is everything one might need for a comfortable stay.

We liked all things about this hotel. It's close proximity to city attractions, close to airport shuttle bus, great beds, friendly and helpful staff, quiet room and lovely breakfast. Staff supplied us with a plate of birthday treats which was a nice surprise. Would stay again.
