This hotel was quite a surprise. We were staying there out of convenience, but it turned out to completely exceed our expectations! Clean and comfy rooms, a fantastic location, easy walk to great restaurants, a great walking trail at the Hidden Lake behind the hotel, an on-site laundry facility, and fantastic hospitality. Plus, the breakfast was excellent and had a wide variety of options. We will definitely stay there again!

The studio apartment has a connecting door to the main house of the host but also has a separate entrance. While not separate from the main house it was private. The location is in a nice residential area. Andrea, the host, greeted us upon arrival and was very nice. She gave us directions to town with recommendations for restaurants. The room and bathroom were clean with very nice upgrades. A kitchen area included a variety of breakfast items that included milk, juice and jams in the refrigerator. The breakfast offering was outstanding. The accommodation provided everything we needed and it was a very comfortable stay.

ALD would be the cleanest holiday accommodation we have ever stayed at. Friendly hosts, but not intrusive.
Breakfast was fabulous, with a great selection of spreads and cereals. Loved the bowl of fruit. Quiet and private.

We were there for the Nationals Dragon Boating Regatta, and would have liked to have stayed on afterwards as spending a few hours in and around Cambridge (when we were away from the lake), the town and surrounding area looked like a great place to explore further. Next time !

The staff were welcoming.
The staff were welcoming. The room was bright, airy, lovely beds, great shower pressure and excellent facilities overall. Shopping was excellent as was the cafe we ate at. Cambridge is easy to get around, and now only 1:30 mins from Auckland with the new motorway. I'll be back often.

Cambridge is such a pretty town.
Cambridge is such a pretty town. We visit regularly during rowing season - but its always a quick one day or maybe overnight stay. Would love to spend more time really getting to experience the surroundings other than Lake Karapiro ;). There are plenty of restaurants - italian, bbq, chilly, vietnamese - a great little movie theatre - the park behind the shopping centre (with the lake); swimming pool, everything a small rural town needs.

This was a great place to stay. It was our last night in New Zealand and randomly chose Cambridge as a place to stay. I wasn't sure what to expect, and discovered a lovely Villa Shakespeare was a colonial era style house set back from the main road. The rooms were very well appointed and comfortable, and were each accessed from their own set of french doors. There was even a little garden hut with supplies for a light breakfast. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
We very much enjoyed our time at Cambridge Mews. The staff were all very nice and helpful. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the cute downtown area with shops, groceries, and restaurants. The area is quiet. They provided us with coffee, tea, sugar and milk, which was a welcomed surprise.
It's very old, has a strange smell.
The communal bathrooms were a pain. For $109 a night, just for a bed and TV is extremely expensive.
I stayed at the Devon Hotel in New Plymouth it was absolutely amazing. Exact same price.
Clean, spacious, private, quiet, comfortable bed and loved all the little extra touches! My husband and I arrived at the hotel after our wedding and there was a gorgeous towel and rose display on the bed! So thoughtful!
Location, property, facilities were excellent. Host was very welcoming and friendly. Helped us find a great cafe for breakfast too. Map of Cambridge very helpful.
