This is a motel in the old school style...Rooms entering off the courtyard. The pool looked inviting/didn't get a chance to use it. We had car so getting to the center of town was easy: otherwise probably a 10 min walk . The room was clean and the beds were comfortable/unremarkable. The staff was very accommodating... patient with our questions about the area. It was also only about a 1/4mile from the Glow Worm Glen.

The property had amazing views and Sue Ellen was really helpful with making recommendations and offering suggestions. You can tell she really cares about her guests. The views were amazing!! The breakfast was unbelievable! We were shocked by the offerings and how delicious everything was. We were invited to but did not attend the happy hour, but I am sure it would have been fun. It was a real treat to stay here!

Lovely sitting at the beach bar on sun set, cold beer watching the rabbits graze. Had a nice dinner and stay at Stumpers. Early morning rise and breakfast at a cafe, stroll around town then saw the Kiwis and fed the eels at the National Kiwi Centre. Beautiful little town

Lovely place to visit. Central for west coast adventures.
Lovely place to visit. Central for west coast adventures. We took day trips from our accomodation to things like Punakaiki and Greymouth. Downside we found not many food options to choose from in town itself and gas prices were fairly high.

We were on our way to Frans Josef and wanted somewhere to break our journey. Hokitika turned out to be a perfect choice. At first glance it didn't appear to offer a lot but after a closer look it's quite a little gem. It's small but offered a variety of good places to eat from pizzas to good pub food (The Regent Theatre Cafe, The Hokitika Sandwich Company were standouts), and also had some very nice boutiques, a bookstore and gift shops to wander through. It was perfect for an overnight stay. Leave time for a stroll in the afternoon on arrival and then the next morning before leaving. We could quite easily have stayed another night.

The Hokitika Girge walk is a must to enjoy the beautiful, grey/white rock formations and blue river contrast.
Punakaiki also magnificent especially it you aim for high tide and the blowhole display. Also fascinated at the cauldron demonstrating the power and force of the sea.
