FAQs about hotels in Gdańsk

Charming Architecture And a Breath of History

Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything from fascinating history and great architecture to a friendly atmosphere!

Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down Communist rule in Poland, initiating the end of the Cold War era.

Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the city's near-complete destruction during World War II. You can admire the colorful townhouses of the Old Town by boat on the Motlawa River or by strolling down the popular Long Street and Long Market.

While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St. Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!

Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com has a variety of accommodations near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city center.

All the sights, the feeling of the town, the restaurants, people, everything is fine. A problem is that though almost everyone speaks English, the information in the streets, museums are mainly only in Polish language.

Gdansk was my introduction to Poland and I had an absolutely wonderful time there. The city is incredibly beautiful, lively, welcoming, safe, walkable and affordable. Polish food is the definition of "comfort food" and portion sizes were all quite generous. You can visit monuments, museums, churches or go on a boat tour but even a simple stroll through the old town can make Gdansk worthwhile.

Absolutely 100% worth visiting, so much history and so much to explore. I keep coming back, every year, so many interesting places, museums, pubs, café, vast veriarties of restaurants. This place buzzing. English-friendly city, from Westerplatte to Moltawa, to boat trips and white sand beaches. My favourite of all Museum Of The Second World War. Gdansk, Gdynia Sopot are easly accessible with public transport.

What a great place. The granary island is beautiful and has so many nice spots. Multitude of places with fantastic food and plenty of sights around the city. We visited excellent attractions such as Majaland theme park, Kart Center go-karting (incl. for small kids) and indoor skydiving at Flyspot - thrills all around!

Gdansk is a beautiful city; very clean and we felt safe there.; no scammers selling fake goods etc. Both the WWII museum and the Solidarity Museum were excellent. History of the city is so interesting.( where WWII started and democracy in 1980). Polish people were very friendly; food is just slightly cheaper than UK with a wide range of restaurants/cafes to choose from. We hired a bike for the day and cycled to nearby Sopot. Easy to do as it’s all very flat. We would like to return to Gdansk as there was lots more to see that we didn’t have time for. Gdansk is well worth a visit.

The location was excellent! The beach was a 2 minute walk from the hotel and we were surrounded by a huge park by the beach. There were coffee shops, restaurants and grocery stores couple minutes away from the property. The tram stop is also located a minute walk from the hotel and the tram goes to the city centre every 15 minutes. The hotel itself is historical, beautiful and very clean, the room was modern and clean as well. We could leave our bags at the reception after checkout and also got some beach towels to sit on at the beach.

Good location, easy access to main ring road, few minutes from city centre. Flat was clean, dishes/cutlery was placed neatly and wiped clean after washing. Great thing was the underground parking with reserved space. Few grocery shops around, with bakery in the same building. Best thing - the price, fairly cheap and well worth the money.

It's a trendy hotel and pretty large but still gives off a rustic feel. A bit outside the busy old town in an area of redevelopment. So you won't feel like a mass tourist. Do walk the ramparts that are around the corner, the lesser-known, most beautiful views of Gdansk, albeit city nature. Proper spa and massage therapists.
