An interesting city with much to see. Quite walkable, but getting about by tram is a good option if you can get a tram map. Not so great is the taxi 'mafia' which clealy collude to rip off tourists. Avoid taxis as much as possibly especially to/from the airport. Locals were very friendly, and many younger ones spoke English and willing to help. The huge and incredible MARKET SQUARE...! Wow! Wow! Wow! The TRAIN... BUS ...[local] TRAM station combination is very convenient. I loved the local mini-marts called "ZABKA..... " They are everywhere.....! The pastry and gelato shops are YUMMY....! TONS of things to see and do: FULL of HISTORY and architectural CHARACTER.... Loved the "LOOK" of the place. I toured AUSCHWITZ- BIRKENAU [so sad....] ---- the WAWEL Castle and Cathedral [guided tours] ---- and I heard mixed reviews of the SALT MINE tour.
