This is our second time to Krawow……. This place is amazing, so much history and things to go see and do… even if you’re not intrested in the history you could sit in the square and watch the world go by. Krakow is sooooo cheap to eat and drink. Highly recommend staying in the old town apartments are so cheap. A few good tips…. Get an appartment with Aircon! Way underrated, fantastic medieval city with a whole bunch of awesome modern architecture as a bonus, and one of the best river walks in the world. It has a 3-mile-long park ribbon that surrounds the entire old town full of old trees, and many more parks, including the community field "Blonia", a several-hundred-acre grassland right in the middle of the city. Very relaxed and slow-paced for a touristy town, very friendly people. One of the safest European cities for tourists. Plenty of good food options with occasional gems like Fala Restaurant with amazing gourmet food and wine in a high-end design interior, without Michelin prices, or Zakladka Restaurant with an actual Michelin star and an original twist on traditional Polish food to show for it. You also have Oranzeria Restaurant with an amazing terrace looking over the royal castle and the river, or Papryczki 3 Restaurant (3 peppers), a faux Italian place, offering nice gourmet food with an amazing, lively garden. Krakow was one of the cleanest and well presented cities we have visited. Auschwitz tour and the salt mines are a must to visit. The Auschwitz -Birkenau Museum takes the best part of the day when you consider the traveling times from Krakow, there is also a lot of walking, so hydration is imperative as is appropriate footwear. The Salt mines were fascinating but again there is a significant amount of walking, if you struggle with flights of steps which is essential to get to the first underground level then this may not be the attraction for you. The city has excellent eateries, especially away from the main square, take your time to explore. We did the salt mine tour and Auschwitz Birkenau Tiur, both excellent value, great visits with a good mix of free time and historical info.
