Where we stayed there is a little train that tours you...
Where we stayed there is a little train that tours you around the city and canal boats - very reasonable and well worth it. It was our hub place to stay rented a car and drove all around doing day trips! Just wished we had more time to explore the Duoro Valley and more of Porto.... Nazare well worth the drive and hit the back roads to see more little towns, just remember to put GPS on 'avoid tolls and highways" totally made the trip! Aveiro is quite small, so we found a one night stay adequate...
Aveiro is quite small, so we found a one night stay adequate. We took a moleceiro boat ride and walked around all the main sites of interest. We also took a taxi tour to see the Praia de Barra lighthouse and the quaint houses of Costa Novo, well worth the extra expense. We even got a free Ovos Moles, the local delicacy. The historic area of town is quite small but very appealing.
The historic area of town is quite small but very appealing. There are some high end shops that we wouldn't have expected and whole town is clean and well looked after. The surrounding environment is a real plus point for us with the ease of access to the lagoon, the nature reserves and the bird walks. Very walkable city.

He even gave us a larger room because we were travelling with a small child. The hotel itself is very warm and cozy. It is not the newest, but very well maintained and clean. We visited during the weekend so the street parking was free and it was easy to find a parking spot next to the hotel.
