The city is very clean and tidy, with lots of very nice places to eat.
The castle is very well preserved, with a Military museum in one of the towers.
One of the reasons we drove to Bragança was to see the Graça Morais art exhibition - she is one of Portugal's best contemporary artists, and she lives and works in Bragança - it was very good!
Just north of the city, the Montesinho National Park has plenty of wilderness for trekking, biking and road trips.

Bragança is a cozy little historic town, the main feature being the castle on the hill. Recommend walking along the river to get there. A little bit of a climb to get to the castle but not too bad. Walk the castle walls and then wander the interior. Come back through the charming center of town. Plenty of good little restaurants and cafes along the way.

The beautiful ancient town of Braganca is a good choice for a short stay while being in Porto. The atmosphere of a place far from the beaten track makes it all worthwile. It offers a picturesque old town, numerous museums that one might visit for free, a park where one can stroll along the river and enjoy the views. Plus, there is a castle (Castelo de Bragança), which is a must-see on the list. Being there do not forget to drop in a Tourist Info where you'll find a superkind staff who will help you plan you trip in and around the place. It is also the gateway to the Park Natural de Montesinho. Enjoy!

To stroll around the castle during a late evening is great.
To stroll around the castle during a late evening is great. Perhaps there are some outdoor activities. I liked the town so much, because it's pleasent to walk around - more pleasant than in other towns, but can't define exactly why so.

Braganca is a very welcoming city, the food is amazing.
Braganca is a very welcoming city, the food is amazing. Variety of traditional and more groumet restaurants. The best pastry coffee shops!
A wide range of delicious cakes.
Great water to drink and to wash, your skin and hair will feel soft.
It's very safe!
The host Paul did a great job of renovating this old building to a beautiful guesthouse with magnificent views of the castle. Slow season now so I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a room to myself. Big kitchen, various chill out areas, fast wifi and very clean. It was so comfortable I stayed a few more days! But even without the room upgrade; the hospitality of the host and the relaxing factor of the whole environment; I will definitely stay at this place if I visit Bragança again. 100% recommend!
Excellent location, spotless cleanliness, no-fuss check-in/out, tasteful and modern rehabilitation, useful amenities (air conditioning/heating, kettle, shower and hand soap, for instance), comfortable bed, free public parking in close vicinity. Bragança and whereabouts offer a lot to visit and see (namely Miranda do Douro, Rio de Onor, fortified border villages, nature and short cruises in scenic Douro Internacional. For a good meal, the difficulty lies on the choice of

The property was a large one bedroom home in the centre of Braganca. We were there during early January and it was cold outside (overnight was -1C). The home was warm with heating throughout. We cooked our own dinner the day we arrived and the flat had all amenities we needed. Lots of finishing touches welcomed us, toilet paper made into flowers just being one!
We visited the bakery/cafe opposite more than once!
Casa do Javali was the perfect little hidden gem of Braganca, with all the charm of 500 years ago and all the conveniences of today, a beautiful one bedroom apartment to enjoy all the comforts of home and you step outside to 500 years ago and an amazing view of the castle. We ate most of our meals at Taberna do Javali do miss the amazing food and staff.
a clean hotel with great staff. Basic facilities met our requirements. Breakfast deserves a special mension, it exceeded our expectations, yes it was continential style, but that suited us fine, the hotel reaaly tried to present a great breakfast choice and importantly top quality
Very nice staff with local knowledge. Breakfast was more than sufficient and good coffee.
The room is spacious and wonderful bathroom, beds are great too.
Wonderful place for hiking in Montesinho area and local restaurants in and around Bragança with good food.
The property is brand new and has a unique design. Also, I was allowed to check in at around 4am next day, and this was when I was even given a tour around the property shortly afterwards. The hostel is in the heart of Bragança and has all necessary facilities.
Perfect location with ample street parking. The accomodate was just minutes from the castle and the downtown / old town of Bragança. The place itself was very nice with lots of historical detail and a beautiful courtyard. The staff were very friendly.
A very good hotel on all accounts. Very clean, comfortable, and friendly. With a kettle in the room and plenty of plugs for your devices. Good WiFi. Excellent breakfast. Two car parks in the back.
