Lovely city, very hilly but there are trains, trams, funiculars to take you up to the high parts of you want to visit those, plenty to do in the lower city centre area without the hills, recommend a Tagus river cruise, we went dolphin watching. Took a train to Cascais beaches area (approx 1 hr), fabulous, we used the lisbon card but dont get it for a Monday as everything is closed, it works on the metro and buses though so very handy tap on and off. Belem tower is under scaffold so couldnt go in or see it properly but still visited it and area is lovely. Sintra was closed the week we were there due to risk of fires so we couldnt visit that town/area. We stayed at the Maxime hotel and it was very central and near a metro stop, metro was very easy to manage. Loads to do in Lisbon, beautiful break.

Lisboa is a beautiful city with so much to see.

Lisboa is a beautiful city with so much to see. Fortunately many people speak Englush so it is easy to get by. The cobble stones and hills are treacherous, slipped many times and fell ones. Wear shoes with a good grip. It is hot in Lisbon during the day but not too bad at night. Public transportation is easy to use and Lisboa is very walkable.

Very interesting city, with a lot to do, from museums to entertainment, monuments to shopping. The whole city is easily reachable with the efficient public transportation system. Some attractions are really crowded in high season, leading to queuing sometimes for hours. The weather is definitely not too hot in the summer thanks to the ocean nearby.

The room was comfortable and well-appointed.

The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The breakfasts were excellent. The location was great. But the most notable aspect of Hotel da Baixa was the truly exceptional level of their staff!!! Talk about going well above what a patron could legitimately expect -- and not just one person but everyone at the front desk and the head of guest services. We were most impressed and will recommend this hotel to friends thinking about visiting Lisbon.

Beautiful city BUT way too many people being dropped off by the cruise ships. The architecture and city streets are charming but hard to enjoy with the crowds. We stayed in old town Lisbon for 1.5 days. That was plenty. I think the outskirts of the old town would be worth exploring.

We already knew Lisbon from previous visits.

We already knew Lisbon from previous visits. This time we only stayed three nights, breaking a return flight to Brazil. But it was well worth it. Bairro Alto and Chiado are great places to stay and explore. We visited the MAC/CCB – Museum of Contemporary Art and Architecture Center at the Belém Cultural Center. They always have wonderful exhibitions, and it's worth sitting outside at the café to relax afterward (it was a very hot day). Cervejaria da Trindade was a great stop for lunch, and Laurentina is a good choice for a delicious cod dish for dinner.

The staff were lovely, the bed and pillows were the best we've ever had in a hotel. Seriously, it really surprised us how comfortable it was. The room was tidy, no frills but asides from the bed we were there for the city. The location is excellent and we had breakfasts every morning in a local cafe and one night, after 20K steps, we had dinner near by and it was excellent. It was also so easy to get to from the airport, when we're back in Lisbon this is where we'll be staying.

The best part is value for money. Compare to other hotels on the same level it was cheaper, for a reason, but still provide a good value for money. The room is big, the food in the breakfast buffet is okay, the staff is great and helpful. The location is also great, as it is not in the city centre but very close to a metro station and in a safe and green area.

Amazing from start to finish! The staff were so friendly, so helpful and it was like a 5 star experience. Everything from the room, to the pool to the hotel restaurant was fantastic. We ate three times in the restaurant during our three night stay because the carbonara was the best we had tasted.
