United StatesA lovely spot in Olhao. I was there is the off-season, but there is lots of communal outdoor space and it looks like it would be a great spot to languish during the summer. And the breakfast was exceptionally good -- fresh fruit and eggs, yum.

We visit Olhao many times in the year.
We visit Olhao many times in the year. We love the location, the restaurants and the people. We highly recommend the Mosse restaurant. They small village is easily navigated on foot and the boat to the islands just completes the stay.

Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from but no noises night clubs which was great for us. Plenty of local vibe. The market was great for fresh produce and especially on a saturday when local producers added to the selection. The atmosphere was great. Lovely walk along the promenade which extended into a nature reserve. We were there for 3 weeks and found Olhao relaxing and very enjoyable

It is the best place to stay if you arrive in Faro.
It is the best place to stay if you arrive in Faro. There are beaches there, boat tours, a nice Comercial centre and a very cute and nice city where you can take amazing pictures.
But be aware that there isn't too much to do at night, being a small Village, most of the city is very quite after 11pm, and there aren't too many options for late night parties.

Enjoyed staying in typical fishing port town for few days. The ferry trips to beautiful beaches were well worth it. Plenty of restaurants to chose from. Pure Formosa very helpful with suggestions for eating as well as ferry timetable.

I loved Olhao.
I loved Olhao. It was a beatiful place with lots of lovely restaurants. It was very reasonable to eat out and the lovely little cafes were so nice to stop and have a coffee and people watch. Would definitely recomment it , more so for adults than families.

Olhao is fascinating town.
Olhao is fascinating town. Traditionally a fishing port, it is now a quiet yet vibrant town that offers a lagoon sea front with the famous fish and fruit and veg markets, and a huge variety of fantastic restaurants to chose from. If you want a beach you take the ferry across the lagoon to the 'islands' where there is definately a 'beach feel', and then you can swim in the Atlantic. so you have the best of both the Lagoon with all its boats coming and going, and then the Atlantic beach.
Olhao is also on the railway, its 15minutes into Faro along the beach, or 50 minutes to the Spanish boarder the other way.
Whilst Olhao has stunning 'cubist' houses, with rooftop terraces. Some are finished to a high specification, with swimming pools on top, whilst others are still derelict and waiting to be restored.

Everything i go at less twice a year, I've stayed in Marina redundancie last October, that's why I booked for February and will do it in August too. Such a lively area been going for over 10 years before they even built the hotel and apartments, so to stay in one again that I've seen over those years being built was fantastic to stay in one.

We had a lovely 8 night stay at in Real marina the location was perfect close to all restaurants and bars. The facilities in the hotel were very good and thankfully we never had a problem getting sun loungers everyday at the pool. We would certainly go back to this hotel and Olhao itself is definitely worth a visit.

Just perfect… a wonderful hotel amazing helpful staff, lovely breakfast. The hotel was immaculate with a great roof top pool and bar. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Couldn’t fault it, very central in a quaint unspoilt area Olhão is beautiful and still very Portuguese. Will definitely be revisiting.
