    We drove to Pinhão.

We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular. We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro. Sleepy village atmosphere but with plenty of activities around the railway boat trips and quinta wine tasting. Some good restaurants. Wonderful views if you climb up through the village. Watch out for the dogs though - they are always enclosed but can be extremely aggressive.

The position of this hotel is breath taking and the staff are really helpful. Be careful when booking, some rooms are in the main building but some are away up and down a very, very steep lane. Not for anyone with a disability. We used the restaurant and although the food was lovely, we thought it was a bit pricey. It was good, but not that good.

The space is beautiful - a historic quinta, with views of the vineyards and the Douro river. It's a large property, with plenty of room for guests to feel private. Multiple pools, a trail through the vineyards, nice rooms. The staff was also lovely - very kind, professional, went above and beyond. The restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The best part was probably the location - walking distance (15 minutes) into the town of Pinhao, but outside enough to feel like you're deep in the valley.

Rita and Pedro, the hosts, are very warm and genuine people who care about making my stay as good as it can be. This is my second visit to this property from the US and would stay no where else in the Douro Valley. They discreetly deliver a wonderful breakfast in a basket to your door each morning. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. This is NOT a hotel, it is large rooms within a wonderful, large house in the heart of Pinhao

This was a clean and cosy house with a large private terrace that had absolutely spectacular views. The beds were comfortable and kitchen adequate for cooking simple meals. We did a 1 hour cruise along the Douro from the wharf at Pinhao which was so serene and a must to see the wine terraces from the water. We ate out at the Writers Place one night (pretty average food) and lunch at Veladouro (really good food).

Excellent accommodation in a wonderful spot on the edge of Pinhao. An amazing find. We were welcomed very warmly and shown around. The kitchen and lounge area are communal and we were encouraged to use the tea and coffee making facilities any time we wanted. It is a short 10 min walk into the small town which you can do along the river. We would highly recommend a stay here.

LBV was such a fantastic surprise. The hotel, really a first class guesthouse,is beautifully designed. I say guesthouse because they don't offer any food other than breakfast, which is perfectly fine given that they have a really good restaurant down the road in Pinhao. Our room, number 2, was beautiful and the balcony huge, overlooking the stunning pool area.

Fantastic guest house just off the main street in Pinhao. Our host, Pedro, was extremely helpful, messaging us a few days before we arrived with details of the room, how to get there, local attractions etc. He was also available in his Family-run café just down the road and took our luggage on the day of departure while we waited for the train back to Porto.

I had a great time in Pinhão. Pedro and Sara were such amazing hosts. They were helpful, full of local knowledge and go the extra mile. I felt welcomed all the time. They made me feel like at home. The best hostel I've ever stayed, it was more like staying in a friend's place. Sure thing I will definitely return and spend more time in Pinhão next time.

Amazing location with great view inside a vinery. Only few minutes of drive from Pinhao. The hotel staff is amazing, super friendly and will do anything to improve your stay. The winery is outstanding and you must take a tasting tour in it. Plenty of parking space. We can't recommend it enough for visiting the Douro river and its wineries.

Pedro is an exceptional host with the best recommendations. This felt more like a boutique hotel which fit in nicely for Douro Valley. Supreme location to hiking trails, a walk along the river, and fresh orange picking :D Everything was very clean and well-thought out. Breakfast and shared fridge (PWYC drinks) was a nice touch.

The bedroom is clean, bed is comfy and the hosts are very nice, they left ham and cheese for the breakfast and a bottle of wine. There is a locker with a code and before my arrival I got a message with instructions to get in. I really recommend Casa Rocha for whoever is visiting Pinhao

The host kindly made up a breakfast for us and left it at our door. Large 2 bedroom unit with lounge/TV room and full kitchen. Very nice bathroom and comfortable. Good location close to restaurants like LBV 79 at the riverside which you can drive to. Parking in the street.
