This review reflects the 2 overnight stays within the same week. The Star Inn was good for an overnight stay, out of the centre of Porto. Near to public transport. The staff were friendly. The breakfast offered good choice and was constantly replenished. The atmosphere was good for a lone traveller. It is a busy place, used by a lot of young people so a bit of noise. The facilities and condition of the place reflected the amount charged.

The hotel itself is very modern and unique. The location is a 2 min walk from Trindade and a 20 min walk to the river (enjoyable route). Book here if you are visiting for Sao Jose - the view of the fireworks was incredible. We stayed in room 607.

This hotel is incredibly good!!! In every aspect Since I arrived, they checked with me via messages to verify when I was arriving, and since I had to arrive before noon, they accommodated everything so they could give me my room a little bit earlier. Going, what it felt to me, above and beyond. Once in the room, it is exactly as they show in the pictures. Comfortable bed, clean and spacious enough bathroom, the shower was <3. It is a bedroom perfect for a single person. I am not sure if two would feel cramped. It came as well with enough closet space, a water heater for tea and coffee. Hooks in the bathroom (a thing most hotel ignore to provide), same as a little shelf in the shower for your own things. Location-wise, it is located 30 min walking from the old town. Take that into consideration when travelling. It is also located 5 min. walking from a metro station, and it is a direct line to the old town. Also, the metro in Porto is super easy to understand with online maps.

    Plenty to do and see over our four day stay.

    Plenty to do and see over our four day stay. We did a walking tour which was very informative and gave us our bearings. Loved walks along both sides of the river. We took the bus out to the beach and had the best meal of our tour there. Would go back as there is still more to see.

    Nothing there - did a boat trip to look at bridges which was lame. People gathered for like an hour and paid 10 euro to see a book shop that inspired JR Rowling in the harry potter fame - seriously!!! Port tasting which you could do anywhere . Pretty city from the water but really no major drawcard .

    I had visited this city 10 years ago and thought the same thing - there is never enough time to enjoy this city the way it should be. I really don't think this is a city where you should schedule yourself back-to-back with tours and museums and reservations. This is a city that you need to relax in, walk around and get lost. Stumbling into a square with a church and then walking into the quiet spaces is magical. Trying every nata you come across until you feel like you are going to throw up walking up another hill. Getting friendly with the local grocer as you stumble with your translation app trying to find just one more ingredient for dinner. I highly recommend you don't approach this city as you would others - don't try to schedule things - maybe one thing a day. Take the time to just soak it in and let Porto come to you.

    Porto is a beautiful city, very unspoilt by tourism and very reasonably priced to eat out and for public transport. Although it was summer the city never felt overly crowded with tourists and we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely come back again.

    Very very busy.

    Very very busy. Again we were constantly pressured by people begging for money which was very off putting. At cafes outside this happened several times. There was far too much building noise and construction going on at once. Very off putting! City was too crammed.

    Porto is beautiful city, smaller than Lisbon but has for us better atmosphere. We spent 3 days and its was just right. Can imagine also more :) Catherdral is really worth to see also due to its view from ‘Torre’, on the other hand Livraria Lello a little tourist trap, good if you want to buy a book but too many people. Hanging around ‘Douro’ was amazing and Vinho Verde and Porto Tonico worth a try!

    It was my favourite Stay on our trip through Portugal! It felt like an Oasis in the middle of the city, and when you're at the Hotel you can't really believe how close you actually are to the city centre. The garden and the pool really gave it a very special and calm vibe. The staff was also very nice and super helpful and made us feel very welcome. There's a wine bar right outside the venue with excellent wines and a cool atmosphere. I would definitely return and recommend this place 100%.

    Friendly staff, great location to stroll around the city center, offers a lot of services (restaurant, leaving luggage at a hotel desk). Despite the generally high humidity level in Portugal in winter, the room in Yotel was very warm and dry. Keep in mind that the shower/toilet are not located in a separate room, but separated from the bedroom by a frosted glass shield. Not a problem for us, but good to know.

    Localisaton - close to everythig. Very good value for money. Clean. Nice Portugal tiles. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed except of pillows overstuffed with strange stuffing. Taxis were kindly called by the reception and have always arrived quickly.We can highly recommend this hotel.
