FAQs about hotels in Stockholm

A Natural Beauty

Modern Stockholm is uniquely made up of 30% waterways and another 30% of parks and green spaces. It’s spread across 14 islands and is both one of the world’s cleanest and most charming capitals.

Stockholm’s famously huge number of museums includes the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet, the Moderna Museet and the Spritmuseum. City Hall hosts the famous Nobel Prize banquet and the Vasamuseet hosts the 300 year old Vasa warship.

The city’s past can be felt in Gamla Stan – Stockholm’s stunning Old Town with medieval layout, cobblestone streets and the Baroque-style Royal Palace. Designer Swedish clothes and interior decorations abound in the many unique stores throughout the city.

For a day away, ferries reveal the stunning Stockholm archipelago, a group of thousands of islands and rocks where you can enjoy hiking, outdoor swimming and fishing.

Whether you fly to Arlanda, Bromma, Skavsta or Västerås Airports, the city centre can be reached by either train or airport coach. Booking.com offers a wide choice of accommodations for your Stockholm holiday, from modern hotels, to unique botels and affordable hostels.

    A beautiful clean city.

A beautiful clean city. Glama Stan (The Old City) is the area to stay in with its lovey old architecture and small winding streets, however the downside is you are surround by "Lots of tourist" and also rather expensive cafes and restaurant's. Look to the surroundings areas, walk around and experience life with the locals that don't leave Stockholm for summer. Search for restaurants in different areas surrounding Stockholm. Negotiating public transport is often a great source of stress for us when travelling. I found Stockholm to be relatively easy. Buy a 7 day pass - SJ pass even if you don't stay for 7 days. It will save you, and also give you the freedom to explore without spending money buying 90 min tickets. Some ferry's are included. Of course if you are ABBA fan like us, don't forget the ABBA museum. Its a short ferry ride from Glama Stan as are many other museums near by. Consider A/C in the summers months, Sweden is warmer than ever now. There is a laid back sophistication and style to this city which we enjoyed.

Stockholm is our favourite City in the World. The old town is great, the setting is picturesque, with so many waterways, parks and attractive buildings. The archipelago is unique - so many attractive islands with quaint housing so close to the city centre. We also love the many museums and sites of attraction such as the Nobel Museum, Photographic Museum and Skansen.

A lovely city reminiscent of a cross between Vienna/Prague and Amsterdam. Fabulous beautiful buildings and palaces worth visiting but everything is relatively expensive. all attractions seem to work out at about £30 per person which quickly adds up and eating out is a special treat but not everyday!! Stockholm is virtually cashless - everything is payable by card. Unlike most European cities the metro is not particularly cheap either. Very safe city to walk around and a boat trip is recommended (a tour of the archipelago is very nice). Oh and you have to pay to visit some of the churches too :)

This was our first visit to Stockholm, a 4-night stay in a hotel on Gamla Stan. We feel that our location was terrific for getting around and dining and experiencing the history of Stockholm. All the sights that we wanted to experience were walkable -- and the Vasa and Nordic and Nobel Museums stand out. Dining for us was at the "everyday" restaurants which we enjoyed very much.

We began and ended our tour of Scandinavia in Stockholm.

We began and ended our tour of Scandinavia in Stockholm. The Swedish food is just great. One absolutely has to have the different pickled herrings for all your meals. The Vasa museum, Skansen, City Hall, Nobel Prize Hall, The Royal Palace (with the change of guards included) and the Gamla Stan in general is fully worth the visit. The only disappointment was the Abba museum which is more a virtual tour with some fun parts of listening to parts of their songs.

We did the hop on hop off bus and it included the boat as well, it was nice as was the vassa museum and viking museum. We also did the ice bar, which I expected more for tge price paid, onky a couple of sculptures and a teeny tiny drink. Staying at the scandic in old town was really nice we could walk to shops and places to eat and the bus and boat stop was nearby.

I stayed at Best Western Royal Star, and it was an excellent experience. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, with a comfortable bed and all essential amenities. The service was great, and the staff was friendly and helpful. A major advantage was the private parking, which is rare and very convenient in Stockholm. The location was also excellent. The breakfast was delicious and offered a good variety. Overall, it’s a comfortable hotel with excellent services, and I highly recommend it for a stay in Stockholm.
