We loved it! Small, cozy and beautiful little hotel not far from the center. Couple of nice restaurants around too and Billa close by. Hotel also sells wines. The gym and sauna and pool were great, our room and bed were super comfy - we had a very good sleep. It was nice and quiet! Breakfast was also great and the staff was nice enough!

Capital With a Small Town Feel

Charming and compact Bratislava is the world’s only capital city bordering two countries, Austria and Hungary, and centers around the beautiful Danube River. South is the modern city and a peaceful forest, but the real Bratislava attractions are over Novy Most (New Bridge), an impressive structure with a UFO-like pylon. The castle on a rock overlooking the Old Town offers the best views of it. The rock itself has a Jewish cemetery and a literally underground club.

Across the street, St. Martin’s Cathedral was the coronation site of past Hungarian kings. The cobbled streets behind are lined with outdoor restaurants and bars. The city’s specialty is treska, a cold cod salad, washed down with white wine from the nearby Small Carpathian mountains.

The main square is Hlavne namestie, home to pastel-colored buildings, a 14th-century town hall housing the city museum, and the Bratislava Christmas markets. Hodzovo namestie square features the Peace Earth sculpture and Baroque Grassalkovich Palace, the presidential residence guarded by the Slovak National Guard. Across the park is the Archiepiscopal Palace, seat of the government. All around are many Bratislava hotels, B&Bs and apartments available on Booking.com.

We (my family and I) were in Bratislava for only one day, and that is definitely not enough time to see and feel this town. I would like to travel there again and to spend at least 3-4 days. It's a nice, quiet, very pretty town (based on my short stay view of the city). It was very easy to get around the city. Plenty of places to eat (you can choose restaurants or fast food), or drink :-). Old Town is beautiful, even in the wintertime when we were there. Hope to see you again Bratislava :-)

I have visited twice and still will be going back, We found new bars and restaurants to enjoy. Been in the summer nice and hot and winter cold with snow and both times we had a great time. Very friendly city with very helpful people, staff in the restaurants will help/explain what the food is. If you are a into beer you will be very happy with the choice and price, the types of food is great as well. See and enjoy this lovely old city. Go and enjoy yourselves

Bratislava left a very pleasant impression. It’s a compact and easy city to explore, with a calm atmosphere and friendly pace. The historic center is walkable, clean, and well maintained, making it comfortable even for short stays. There is a good variety of restaurants and cafés, where you can find both local cuisine and international options. Service in most places was good, and the overall dining experience felt relaxed and enjoyable. The city is convenient for travelers — easy to navigate, not overcrowded, and suitable for families as well. It feels like a good balance between a capital city and a quiet European town. Overall, Bratislava is a nice destination for a short visit or a stop during a longer trip, offering a comfortable stay, good food, and a pleasant atmosphere.

Small, attractive walled city. Lovely restaurants and bars. Faschinating Old Town Hall with a museum full of very interesting items and history. The Christmas market was fun, though mainly full of similar stalls selling food and drink. The illusion and mirror museum is definitely worth a visit, a great fun way to spend a couple of hours, especially if the weather is bad!

Bratislava is an expensive city for what it is.

Bratislava is an expensive city for what it is. I was only there for a shopping weekend, but seems (and I was told by locals) that it's livelier and more worthwhile to visit during the warm seasons. Transportation system is very good, and I am curious to return for the jazz festival and to travel into the Slovakian countryside on another visit. Speaking of live music: try the Jazztikot club in town center for pretty hip blues and jazz sets.
