Surrounded by Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystical capital of the North. With more than 300 temples, it's considered one of the most important cultural centers in the country.
Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still has a relaxed and laid-back feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.
This reputation is partly due to its proximity to lush green areas, mountains like Doi Suthep, and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 37 miles away with Thailand’s highest mountain.
Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city center are a popular choice, with picturesque scenery featuring its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.
The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Road hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.
Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss "The Rose of the North" deals on Booking.com!

Chiang Mai is a great city to visit, lots of activities and attractions in the area but more laid back compared to Bangkok. A good central hub for day tours to waterfalls, temples and markets.
Easy to get around using Grab or Bolt, or there are always taxis and tuktuks around all major areas.
The Sunday night market in Old Town, Night Bazaar and Baan Kan Wat are must-dos.

Everyone expects different things but I was happy with what we did. We were told about The Faces restaurant which was very beautiful to look at. I have to say though that the Wua Lai Boutique did very good meals too. They arranged a driver for us one day and he took us to some temples and gardens which we enjoyed.

Chiang Mai became one of my most favorite cities of all time, almost instantly. Old Town is full of gardens, plants, finest architecture, cafes and restaurants. The jazz club at North Gate is a must visit at Saturday nights. People are respectful. Coffees are divine. Just outside old city you would find it difficult to choose between the night markets. All the temples are beautiful and there are more than 300 of them. The city celebrates new year (Songkran) in another level- this means it's amazing but not for the weak. Last not for the least; enterance of an olympic pool surrounded by banana trees is 80 baths.

I went to Chiang Mai on a workation and was there for 6 days. There are good markets, restaurants and sights to see. The temples, and there are a lot of them, were stunning. All in all, a great trip. The Thai smiles and hospitality without the craziness of other Thai locations. A relaxed and friendly vibe.

The city itself is mixed with modern and ancient in a way you feel very chill. There are lots of nice cafes, local food in walking distance. You can enjoy touring in a city with rental bikes or walk in the old city. It's a cultural city but has shopping malls in some areas. very convenient. if you are solo travel, u can call grab to pick you up. I recommend to visit in Oct-Dec. nice weather.

Very clean place compared to Pattaya and Patong.
Very clean place compared to Pattaya and Patong. No beaches just beautiful mountains and country views. Different things to see compared to other parts of Thailand. Many temples in Old town to see. Lovely foods, very fresh, lovely people. Loved our cooking class with Emma at Thai Cottage and tour to the country.

LARGE ROOMS, spotlessly clean, quiet neighborhood.
Perfect Location near night bazaar, good restaurants. 10 Minutes
walk to the old town.
Excellent, delicious breakfast. Choice of Thai and Western cuisine.
Eggs to order and excellent coffee.
But most of all I liked the friendly and helpful staff,
led by the extraordinary owner NIM, who runs an outstanding hotel.
She makes everything happen in a friendly, professional manner.
I give her and this wonderful hotel 11 out of 10, if I could!
EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY!
Quite and clean environment. Accomodating and approachable staff. Good breakfast. Located in Chiang mai old city. I loved walking around which is the best way to explore the old city. There are Several cafes and restaurant and massage spa around the area. The hotel is just a few walks to the gorgeous Wat Phra Singh temple.
Its Not centralized but nearby tourist attractions like jj market, night market bazaar and muay thai stadium. Definitely recommend this place to stay.
Exactly like pictures so very beautiful and confortable. If you want a private pool with your room in the old city, knowing many hotels here, this is the best romantic option. Breakfast in the basket was very good and fun in the pool. The temperature of the pool was perfect for this period, not too hot not too cold. Just cooling you down when coming in from the hot day outside.
Thank you to the owner and the staff !
Clean hotel in the old city. In walking distance you will find everything.
Quite neighborhood. No noise during the night.
Bathroom and all seems new.
Smaller room than expected in the pics.
