This hotel is located off U.S. Highway 30, in a historical beach area on the banks of the beautiful Columbia River.

We loved the size and comfort of the room. The king size bed was very comfortable. We REALLY REALLY loved the clean 24 hour pool and sauna.

Astoria has a rich history of days past industries-fishing, shipping, logging, etc. Today's industry is tourism. There are lots of shops and places to eat for those visiting. The Columbia River Maritime Museum is in the heart of Astoria on the waterfront where one may tour the famous Lightship Columbia. While there are abundant places to stay we stay at The Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa. All rooms are waterfront.

Astoria is a wonderful historic city and very walkable.

Astoria is a wonderful historic city and very walkable. There a many things to do there with the numerous established and new museums that cover the incredible history of discovery as well as our Native American first inhabitants. Lots of restaurants along the Columbia River as well as in the downtown area. Astoria is just north of many other well known coastal cities as well.

    Maritime Museum is a must-see.

Maritime Museum is a must-see. Mort than just about eh harbor and ships: lots more info and insights into the human side of living at the Coast and the near the mouth of the Columbia. Wish we had another day for a second visit there. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: The Garden of Surging Waves on Duane Street at 11th (1 block south of Commercial). a 15 -20 minute quiet introspection of what it was like to drive from foreign land and help make the Northwest a commercial success. Be sure to also read the "in-sidewalk" inscriptions along Duane Street. Good food choices in downtown. No need to settle for the usual burgers and fries. Enjoy some well prepared and tasty options in the smaller restaurants. We did and have no regrets.

    Astoria is always interesting.

Astoria is always interesting. The Riverwalk from the west end goes through some areas where one shares the walk with vehicles so you have to be careful. Taxis were available. Astoria Brewing Company has great lunches (although a bit pricey) and Fort George dark was delicious. Never have like the Bowpicker tuna fish and chips, but many people do. Halibut best for fish and chips.

    What a beautiful town.

What a beautiful town. Although Canon Beach has way more attractions. Astoria just doesn’t market itself well. No information could be found on where to see the sea lions. We finally found a viewing point. The back road over the city is not marketed … when we took it … it was like the Goonies’ bicycle trip. Many things to see, but unless you can find them yourself … not easily found.
