Just 1 block from the Magnificent Mile in Downtown Chicago, this historic European-style high-rise hotel features beautiful city views and offers free WiFi.

Staff were over the top friendly and welcoming. Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of outlets and usb chargers. The coffee set up in the room is the best of any hotel I have ever stayed at. I'll just never understand why hotels can't get this right. But the Hotel St. Clair has!!

FAQs about hotels in Chicago

Our Kind of Town

Standing proud beside Lake Michigan, Chicago is down-to-earth, friendly, and full of culture. It has outdoor art by famous artists including Chagall and Picasso, and there are some fascinating architectural works from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.

The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.

Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.

Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.

It was great a time. We could have stayed another week. Citypass was the best investment along with transit pass. Verify days museums are open. So many free opportunities if you are an IL resident.

We used to live in Chicago, so this was a return to visit family. Since we have done most of the tourist activities, we decided to visit neighborhoods: Little Italy, Pilsen, Greektown, and Roseland/pullman neighborhoods. We used primarily mass transit (CTA). Transport from Midway and/or O’hare Airports is indeed doable - perhaps faster - if you don’t need luxe travel. The State St. area around the Embassy Suites seems to have degraded this time: more litter, broken windows & doors, boarded up restaurants, etc. we question what has changed.

Great city; like a friendlier version of New York!

Great city; like a friendlier version of New York! Weather is more changeable though so bring layers! Lots to see and do; we took a week which meant we could do one or maybe two tourist things per day and relax/eat/drink/people-watch/explore the rest of the time at our leisure. Friendly people, beautiful architecture. The CityPass 5-visit ticket is well worth getting. And if you want a particular resaurant, don't forget to book in advance or arrive early.

I found Chicago very clean and walkable. The architecture is beautiful an̈d the river cruise to highlight it was very interesting. The Field Museum and Art Institute of Chicago were both outstanding. A train ride to Wrigley Field to watch a Cubs game was a great experience.

The city has so many tourist attractions and restaurants...

The city has so many tourist attractions and restaurants options to choose from. I really enjoyed my time here due to the weather, the close distances from one area to the next, and because I had no use for uber or Lyft. My partner and I, instead utilized the subway and buses for cheap transportation, which saved us a lot of money. Furthermore, the cold weather and the wind made it a very enjoyable time to walk downtown and its surrounding areas.

Location can't be better, right next to where the river boat tours start, next door to the best roof top bar in Chicago and next to Michigan ave which has all the best shops! There are ice machines and vending machines in the hotel as well as a coffee station on the second floor (I only found that on my second and last day :-( would have been nice to know before). Easy enough to get to and from the airport using the blue line - it cost $3 vs Uber which was around $60-120 depending on the time of day.

Perfectly located for downtown Chicago and a great choice of lovely restaurants. Hotel had great facilities and spacious rooms. The breakfast staff, Fannie and Javier went out of their way every morning with their friendly greeting. They work so hard to give everybody a great experience. All the reception were always very friendly and helpful. Check was quick and easy and we were able to have our room even though we arrived early.

The room was large and very clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. Coffee maker was a welcome addition. The bathroom was very modern, clean and had all the ammenities required. The breakfast (additional payment) was excellent with a wide range of food choices. Location of the hotel near to union Station was a deciding issue, but also the hotel is close to the Chicago Downtown.

Great room, perfect for 4 adults sharing one 2 bed room, with a comfortable bed sofa in the living room and a very comfortable king bed in the bedroom. The breakfast was tasty and the pool wonderful after spending the days exploring Downtown Chicago. The hotel is in a great location, near to restaurants, bars, shops, and the river too. Would stay here again!

The hotel is located downtown in the immediate vicinity of Michigan Ave. Chicago sights are within walking distance. The staff is very kind, responds promptly to requests. The breakfast is poor, you should not have very high expectations. The quality-price ratio is correct.
