Amazing Rainbow State and Paradise. It is a special place for us as my granddaughter was born in Honolulu. My daughter and son in law lived here for few years. There is a lot to see and explore in Honolulu. It is also easy to get around as there are Trolleys, buses. We loved dinners at California Pizza Kitchen, Cheese factory, Dukes, Moana Surfrider. Loved the street festivals and stalls. Places we visited were amazing such as Byodo-In-In-Temple in Kaneohe, North Shore, Hanauma Bay, and much more. beautoful clean city with plenty of tropical atmosphere and very good infrastructure. cost of living (food etc) is high but not that far from the rest of the USA like LA or SFO. Honolulu is a big city with big city things to do. You aren't going to run out of activities in a hurry. Oahu is a pretty heavily populated island - lots to do but lots of people. But it depends on what you're looking for in a Hawaiian experience. All amenities of a large city with the benefit of being on a tropical Island. Honolulu offers you everything you want and need but also gives you the opportunity to find quiet places. The beaches here are very crowded. If you have a car, driving 6 to 10 miles east give you beautiful beaches and not crowded. The bus can also take you there. Great busses.
