FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

As this was my fifth visit and only meant to be an overnight...

As this was my fifth visit and only meant to be an overnight stay in order to catch a flight I wasn’t bothered to find and pay for a waterfront hotel with views. However I decided to stay couple days extra, and the location of my hotel was great - just a short walk a block away from the beach. I love the feel of walking around Waikiki and feel safe on my own, even after dark. Walking to the shops I did feel unwell and a lovely lady (one of the local team of guides/helpers) gave me great advice on where to find toilets near me, and somewhere quiet to sit for a coffee. She followed me and ended up taking me there directly. She returned 1/2 hour later to see if I was ok, asking if I needed more help. She was such a great ambassador for this wonderful city. There is so much to do here - from beach days to shopping, the zoo, sea life centre, Visits to North Shore and all that it has to offer are within easy reach. Hike Diamond Head (wonderful), visit Pearl Harbour (must see), go to the war museum (so interesting), catch a Luau (at least once), after 5 visits I still find something new each time.

If you like a bustling city with lots of congestion and people who party a lot, and you're a fan of high rises, then Waikiki is for you! I liked every other town, beach and adventure we took outside of Honolulu. Chinatown has some great restaurants.

Loved Honolulu - only drawback is that it is very expensive and the exchange rate does not help either. Loved the beach, atmosphere and the weather. Was not a fan of the food though. Was easy enough to get around - used Ubers mostly. The place is so scenic.

    Amazing Rainbow State and Paradise.

Amazing Rainbow State and Paradise. It is a special place for us as my granddaughter was born in Honolulu. My daughter and son in law lived here for few years. There is a lot to see and explore in Honolulu. It is also easy to get around as there are Trolleys, buses. We loved dinners at California Pizza Kitchen, Cheese factory, Dukes, Moana Surfrider. Loved the street festivals and stalls. Places we visited were amazing such as Byodo-In-In-Temple in Kaneohe, North Shore, Hanauma Bay, and much more. Swimming with turtles was one of the highlights for my grandchildren. We loved our stay in Hawaii.

beautoful clean city with plenty of tropical atmosphere and very good infrastructure. cost of living (food etc) is high but not that far from the rest of the USA like LA or SFO. The island is littered with beautiful places which are unique to it, you wont find the same nature and geography anyhwere else on earth. the aloha spirit sinks into you as you land and everyone is so friendly 10/10

Location right opposite the Hilton Hawaiian Resort and 10 minutes from the beach. Plenty of eating places close by. We had a great American breakfast at the Korean restaurant next door, not cheap but then nothing is in Hawaii these days. Hotel is part hotel and part rented apartments. Room service was not available when we were there and I would have appreciated being told when I made the initial booking. Reception and concierge staff were excellent.

Best location on Waikiki Beach. Beautiful well maintained heritage building. Large size rooms with spectacular views. The lush tropical garden and grounds are a knock out and a welcome respite to the retail madness of the high street. The location is walkable and accessible to everything one needs; whether it shops, restaurants or recreational activities. Wouldn't stay anywhere else! The Royal Hawaiian is the epitome of old world Oahu.

Our 9th vacation in Hawaii and at least our 4th time at the Waikiki Resort Hotel. Excellent! After Covid they did their best to improve the amenities (beach yoga class and hula class for example). Breakfast included with a very good variety of fresh fruit everyday and other options. Perfect and very affordable price.
