I love Kehena beach and it was so easy to go to the beach whenever we wanted.
We even saw spinner dolphins swimming in the bay.
We liked the beach chairs.

We loved everything about Hale Nonno. It was the perfect size for the two of us and was very comfortable. The landscaping was absolutely amazing and really provided us with the perfect peaceful Hawaiian stay.

I loved the kindness and availability of the owners to answer our doubts and questions. They are very friendly people and do not interrupt your stay with their presence, even living near the house. The place was immaculate and organized. The bed was very comfortable and the temperature was perfect. The bathroom is clean and has hot water. Truly, it is a cozy space with privacy. My favorite space was the enclosed porch. We had a nice evening drinking a couple of beers on that porch. It's a very quiet neighborhood, so you need to be considerate of the surroundings. I will stay here again if I return one day. Thanks for everything!

This newly renovated house in the jungle has an expansive yard and is in a beautiful setting. Everything worked. There was good communication from hosts. The birds erupt into a cacophony at night adding to the magic of the experience. There's no TV. Kids had a blast catching lizards in the meticulously landscaped garden.

The porch and view are amazing. The big double doors that open from the living area were wonderful. There were toys and games for the kids. I would recommend this stay to anyone, especially families.

It was very unique. Had beautiful grounds and a great wooden hot tub. Close to a great beach. Did not get to meet host but was able to get situated and comfortable on my own.

Pahoa is smaller than Hilo but feels more authentically Hawaiian. Having said that, there is access to restaurants, a grocery store, gift shops etc. It was a good starting point for trips to a black sand beach, the volcano, the botanical gardens (a must see!), and other sites.

PAHOA is a very Large district many individual suburbs, Kalapana, Kalapana Estate Pahoa, Hawaiian Gardens, Paradise, Orchidland. Ainaloa, Leilani Estate and so forth I believe it's all part of PUNA. So it's huge... Over all I really enjoy Pahoa cause I have my best friend who lives and work in the heart of Pahoa she's is such a blessing. So Yes I Love It There. Lots of delicious places to eat at even from the side of the road, Certain days you can buy Fresh Tuna and other fish right from the Ahi Man!!! Amazing 😍

Pahoa is off of the beaten path.
Pahoa is off of the beaten path. I have come to Pahoa only to visit my family members who have lived on the island for over 10 years. The town Pahoa has added a good shopping center with Malama grocery. And Pahoa is close to the volcano and the beautiful coast. Wouldn't recommend Pahoa as a tourist destination. But if you're not the touristy type, this is the place for you.

Try to go to Uncle Roberts place at the end of the road on Wednesday nights. Quite the experience. Other things around the area offer lots of lava and the state and national parks (especially the ones on the water) are amazing. Great remote place like no other.
A really beautiful place with gorgeous gardens. The owner was friendly, and had put together a list of local, queer-friendly events going on throughout the week! Having just the few, select rooms made for some great conversations with the other folks there (including the owner) and, coupled with the picturesque environment, made it feel like a stay at a high-end luxury property (despite being the same price as the basic hotels in the same region I'd looked at before). Very highly recommended! I'll be coming back!
Pahoa is at a walkable distance, I do strongly recommend hiring a car to go to the beach/volcano.
The sauna/hot tub area was really nice and readily available for use. The owner is very engaged in developping the property with organic farming and interested in feedback. A group of long-stay hippie style volunteers works and learns here. They all seemed content. Never heard so many birds at night, truly a phenomenon.
On some days there is a possibility to join extatic dance or soundbaths on the premise.
Location: So close to beach, hilo and vulcano national park
Free Parking nearby
Super spacious room with comfortable double bed
Very friendly owner
Least expensive private room on the whole island, maybe even in whole of state hawaii
Kitchen fully equipped, Restrooms nice
Nice sitting area outside, and hanging around makes fun too, super quiet to sleep. My favorite Hostel from now on, i would call the whole area with private rooms more like HOTEL instead of HOSTEL
Location outside Pahoa was beautiful and calm; distinct from Hilo. There was easy access to downtown Pahoa and it was an easy drive to Hilo. The grounds were lovely and the interior unique. The kitchen facilities were as expected. There was an excellent guide book that we found very useful in guiding our travels. As I started doing pottery in retirement, I appreciated that the owner, a potter, showed me his kiln and lovely pots. One of them came home with me.
we loved our stay and enjoyed our time in the hilo area. the location is beautiful with a lovely yard and pool area. the 3 dogs are also a big plus and were loads of fun to have around. they were so accommodating and after forgetting something in our room they had it sent to our next destination(different island!)
thanks so much for the great time
Raven and Marc are the sweetest hosts ever.
They took so much care of us, and their dedication is incredible.
This is really a true local experience , don’t go if you are afraid of little critters, or expect a Hilton hotel.
We cannot recommend this more for adventurous families, or friends, or couples that want to experience the real Hawaii !
Eliot's vacation home is vibrant and spacious and is nestled amongst lush fauna and flora of Pāhoa. Eliot went above and beyond and embodies the spirit of generosity. We are so thankful for his insights into local eats, attractions and the beautiful home he provided. I hope to return someday.
Great bungalow, amazing atmosphere, perfect location for Pahoa and very cozy for someone alone or a couple. The outside of the room is very nice for breakfast or for meditating. The kitchen has everything. There were some fruits on my arrival. The bathroom was very clean and well equipped.
The location was amazing! Off the beaten path. Quiet. Beautiful. Spacious. Views of the ocean and sunrise from the lanai.
We had plenty of kitchen tools to cook for ourselves if we wanted. But also close enough to Pahoa go out to eat.
The hosts were friendly and very helpful.
The property was beautiful, and a nice size house. Location was near Hilo and volcano, so after activities it was great to unwind and relax. Host was attentive to anything we needed and very helpful on things to do.
Beautiful location near the ocean. Lovely artwork. Outside shower. One comfortable bed. Roomy. Lots of lights. Very friendly and eager staff. Great climate. Bidet. Lots of outlets. Good wifi when it work
Perfect setting, with beaches and a hot spring nearby. The apt. was very private and had a tropical style, with access to a lawn for outside dinning or star gazing. The hosts were fantastic, very helpful.
It’s a cute and cozy unit. It was nice and clean. It’s not too far from Pahoa town. Allen and Dianne are wonderful people. They were so welcoming and so accommodating. Great stay!
