I was born and raised in Portland and honestly I find that coming home is not the same. I know my way around town and it has always been a pain to drive anywhere. There are many places to see in the metro area but it has just gotten really crowded. If you are driving yourself it is not easy to get anywhere unless you know the area. I realize that airport way is really congested with the bridge to Washington just down the street.

I live here, so I am a fan. Lots of trees and a river runs through it. Interesting cuisine and friendly people. An hour away from the mountains to the east and an hour away from the ocean to the west. Oh. And to the south, the wine country.

Portland is a great city for doing almost anything you want.

Portland is a great city for doing almost anything you want. The museum is beautiful; we saw an exhibit on David Hockney. There are fabulous restaurants in every part of the city, but it helps to have a native sort them out for you. We ate at Mucca Osteria (downtown; OMG, so good); Jake's Famous Crawfish (my favorite - so civilized, but not stuffy); a Cena Ristorante (Italian; excellent); The Kennedy School (a refurbished and repurposed school building); and Screen Door (Louisiana-style fried chicken, collards, gumbo, etc.). The International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park is a must; even if you don't like roses, the variety and color will stun you. The city is bike-friendly (watch out, drivers!) and pedestrian-first (drivers stop when people cross the street in the middle of the block), There are many old neighborhoods where the houses have been re-done; a number of neighborhood parks; and a fun assortment of antique stores, weed shops, tattoo parlors, art galleries, etc. - the usual mix for a big city. And of course, there's Powell's City of Books, a four-story warehouse full of new and used books - the mecca for me.

Portland is a beautiful city with so many big trees for a downtown area — we were repeatedly surprised by how shady and cool downtown was compared to anywhere else we have ever stayed. The public transportation system is very easy to use so we were able to travel all over the city inexpensively by train and bus to see things we would not have otherwise had access to. There are so many cultural events, museums, and nightlife opportunities that we had a hard time deciding what to choose. We would definitely return to spend more time there.

I love the food trucks and bookstores and all the great parks. Its a very family friendly city. I also lived here when I was a small child and it is disappointing to see the very obvious homeless population that seems to have a fair amount of feyntanal abuse. Its gotten better over the last few years but still very alarming. It is also sad that a city with so much water in it and around it has such high utily rates and many people living in this beautiful city cannot afford to water in the summer. I fear that a lot of the beautiful trees and shrubs that define the city will eventally die out if this is not addressed.

Because our flight to Dallas was cancelled, we needed to stay at the hotel by around 4 pm on the day of check-out, and the reception allowed all of us (6 rooms) the late check-out, which was incredibly helpful. Deeply appreciate Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland. We will definitely stay at your hotel for our next visit to Portland! And the restaurant on the 1st floor serve excellent food for breakfast and dinner with a great draft beer! Love your food so much!

The location in northern downtown Portland is very good. It is very near Powell's Bookstore, Old Town, Pearl District, etc. Right next door is also a Food Truck Court, nice place to have some food or a beer. The room was clean and big and the cleaning staff were very friendly and efficient! It is a chain, so nothing "out of the ordinary," but the hotel seems to be very well managed/run and the price was very good in comparison to other places in Portland.

The Dossier was a great hotel right downtown. Downtown Portland has lost a lot of its charm the last few years, but that is no fault of the Dossier. It was easy to get everywhere and we were able to walk or take public transportation wherever we wanted. The coupons for the bar were also incredibly helpful in figuring out breakfast. The room was large and comfortable and very clean.
