The city needs better signage on its surface streets to help visitors. It works fine for people who know the city well, but it doesn't account for the confusion travelers and infrequent visitors often experience. In other words, it is unfriendly to an important part of its economic base, tourism, and to travelers passing through who are merely staying the night.
Cheers to it by offering maps of the city and its surroundings, but that is not enough!
It should take a lesson from Portland, Oregon, in how it signs its thoroughfares and street system. Otherwise, the city is a gem, extremely lovely, neat, and kept clean.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned enjoyed breakfast. I'll definitely stay again. I like the location. Walking distance to Walmart, family restaurant the Millstone . Sam's club.

Beautiful city.
Beautiful city. There is so much to see and do within close driving distance. Many fabulous restaurants. I loved the Happy Days store in the mall. It was like traveling back in time to my childhood . Many new and up to date items there also. And just walking around town was nice. The presidents on every corner.

Interesting downtown. 35 minutes drive to mount Rushmore.
Interesting downtown. 35 minutes drive to mount Rushmore. I recommend going to the evening ceremony if you can. Custer state park is close and is a must see if you are in the area. Reptile world and Bear Country USA are good options to keep the kids amused. Dinosaur park is a fun free activity at the top of the hill.

Rapid City is a comfortable-sized city. Traffic was not bad.
Rapid City is a comfortable-sized city. Traffic was not bad. There are plenty of places to eat in town, and there are nice parks and attractions. Access to the Black Hills is very convenient, with Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, the Crazy Horse Memorial, the Badlands, and Devil's Tower, Wyoming, a relatively short drive away. The Presidential Walk is a nice feature in town, and the Depression-era Dinosaur Park affords great views of the city.

Nice city. Traffic was not horrible. Good Restaurants, Firehouse Brewery & Restaurant great pizza, Sickies Garage..gotta try their salted caramel cheese cake! Nice scenic drive to Mount Rushmore.

Breakfast was amazing too. I could stay here for a week !

We started our trip to the Bighorns, Yellowstone, Tetons, Bozeman, and Devil's Tower/Black Hills here. It was a wonderful place to base upon arrival at the Rapid City Airport. The pool and hottub were great, and the suite offered plenty of room for our group of 5.
