The location is great. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The bed was clean and comfy. The spa tub was nice and clean. We had the parking lot view, which I appreciated because it was away from the street and nice and quiet.

FAQs about hotels in South Lake Tahoe

Sun, Ski, Fun & Scenery

South Lake Tahoe has made up for its relatively short history by rapidly developing into America’s all-year playground. The natural surrounds of the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe provide winter and water sports enthusiasts with plenty of action, and its well-renowned nightlife and proximity to Stateline in Nevada satisfies the partygoers.

There are a multitude of restaurants, bars and dance clubs set back from its sandy or rocky shores that are open around the clock. Jump aboard the old Mississippi paddle wheeler Tahoe Queen as she ploughs her way through the intense blue waters of the lake or you can choose for muscle power by going canoeing.

Not far from North America’s largest alpine lake is Heavenly Ski Resort that features an abundance of world-class ski runs all serviced by a large number of quality ski lifts. The runs provide something for everyone from beginners to the more experienced, and snowboarders to cross-country skiers.

The astonishing wilderness that surrounds South Lake Tahoe can be explored on mountain bike or by boat. Emerald Bay is particularly impressive with the magnificent Vikingsholm castle hidden amongst the pine-infested hills.

Booking.com offers something for every taste whether it is a skiing resort, lakeside lodge, luxury hotel or backpacker hostel.

    It snowed in May!!!

It snowed in May!!! The local coffee shop (Clyde’s coffee) had such a cute ambience that was so country style with great coffee. We saw a bear our first night and it was only in the parking lot of the motel. The area looks like it has lots of shops and tons to do in the snow or lake. Can’t wait to plan another trip.

    A beautiful area to explore.

A beautiful area to explore. The gondola ride was excellent and the drive around the lake beautiful. The scenery was exceptional and we would recommend a trip to Lake Tahoe. We had breakfasts at a superb place called Driftwood- the portions were large and we learnt to share the meal - they added lots of sides. The wait staff were delightful and we would highly recommend. We also enjoyed a very nice meal at Jimmy’s which was lovely but quite expensive! The pizza that we had at the Stateline Brewery and Restaurant was the best I have ever had.

    Tahoe is EXSPENSIVE.

Tahoe is EXSPENSIVE. Just to use the gondola it is $129 per person! So I did not purchase it. I heard it is $60 in summer but in winter it is double. Heard they have tubing at the summit but was not going to pay that. The lake is beautiful. There are a couple of restaurants that have great views of the lake at sunset but my the bill for two was over $200. You can find some good hotels at a decent price. My girlfriend and I went snowmobile which was awesome but another $265. Gas is super expensive. They have a couple casinos. Short walk downtown but a nice relaxing walk. They have some great beaches! Probably some good hikes as well although I did not hike that weekend. I did go tubing at "Tube Tahoe". I definitely recommend calling and asking if there big jump with a huge airbag to land on is open. I paid $72 for 1.5 hours when it said 2 hours and the big jump was not even open yet. Takes a weekend to fully experience lake Tahoe. Come once in winter and once in summer and you will have seen all of Tahoe. I still recommend going!

    Stunning location.

Stunning location. Scenery , outdoor activities, easy to get to (if not snowing). Lots of choice accommodation and eating, from huts, to condos, hotels, casinos, .. 6 ski areas all with a different vibe. If snowing, highways in and out can close, and check chain laws in effect. Quite expensive, especially busy weekends.

The position is just perfect, being really in Downtown South Lake Tahoe. 50m from main street and 10' walking from Nevada border. The staff was very helpful and nice, suggesting places where I could have breakfast or dinner. I would definitely come back and stay again
