Location and staff were top notch. The pool and hot tub were icing on the cake and made for a wonderfully relaxing weekend. We shopped on the strip just outside of the entrance and enjoyed Oktoberfest from our balcony. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

Overall a good value. The room was way bigger than we expected. Beds were comfy, and there were plenty of towels and washcloths. Kitchen had everything we needed, even paper towels and dish tabs. The resort also has bulkier kitchen items available to borrow from the desk. The other spaces in the resort are nice as well. Loved the reading/game room (and the free lemon slushies!) The pool area was well maintained and everything in working order. Loved the indoor entry to the heated outdoor pool, as the air was still chilly in June when the sun went down. We also loved that there was a sauna. Takes a bit to heat up if no one else has been using it, so set the timer and go for a swim while it heats up. The free shuttle to Lionshead (take the pedestrian walkway) and Vail Village was very convenient. There are other amenities like a hair salon and massage therapy business, they are not there all the time so you have to make an appointment. We could see the Eagle Bahn gondola in Lionshead from our room. Yes, the decor is a little dated as others have pointed out. For us, it added to the charm of the place. We have stayed at several older family-run hotels and guesthouses in the German and Austrian Alps and this place has a similar vibe. Also keeping with the German feel, there didn’t seem to be A/C in our room. However, it was not hard to cool down the place with the ceiling fans and opening some windows.

I have been to Vail several times, stayed at other resorts and condos. This was without question the best one yet. The service and ease of staying there was exceptional. Every detail is carefully considered to make the stay enjoyable from the ski concierge ( could not have been easier to get skis/rent skis, have them at base of mountain near Gondola one, no walking in snow boots! they keep your shoes while you ski so you can leave ski boots there overnight!). Valet very professional and Concierge quite helpful.

Vail has great infrastructure - from free buses to express...

Vail has great infrastructure - from free buses to express lifts and fancy restaurants. Its village location is quite high so mountain sickness happens more often. While the resort has a lot of terrain, its middle part becomes a bottleneck with long lines. Restaurants in the village are great, fancy and expensive. We liked them. Though the restaurants on the mountain were not as great. Most had limited seating, very basic food, no desserts, etc.

Vail has a wonderful village area, perfect for shopping,...

Vail has a wonderful village area, perfect for shopping, dining, and enjoying time with the whole family. It’s great for couples looking for something romantic and also for groups of friends. The atmosphere is charming and lively. The ski terrain is excellent when all the runs are open. However, at the beginning of the season, even with plenty of snow, they often keep many runs closed. That’s exactly what happened during our stay from December 1st to December 6th / 2025, lots of snowfall, yet only six runs were open. It gave the impression that they were holding back to save costs, which was very frustrating. We ended up having to drive to another mountain to get better skiing.

We visited in mid-October to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and had a great time! The fall foliage was beautiful, we had a lovely stroll around Vail Village (tons of cute shops, coffee shops, restaurants, and a creekside trail), and went to the spa at Gravity Haus. Dinner at Russel's Restaurant was also a highlight.

The Betty Ford Gardens are amazing and beautifully done.

The Betty Ford Gardens are amazing and beautifully done. Could have spent much more time there. Once parking was figured out, public transportation was an easy way to get around town. Visitors center staff was great for getting oriented to town. Lots of shopping and amazing places to eat and explore. One day does not do justice to all there is to do in Vail in any season.

Vail is my happy place.

Vail is my happy place. I've been going up from Denver in the summer (and winter) since the 70's. I love the trails, restaurants, town, hotels...Everything (except maybe the expense). Getting around vail is so easy with the bus system, walking or a car for hikes and trails further out. Plenty to do winter and summer with events and such.

My own experience at Vail may be different than others.

My own experience at Vail may be different than others. First, we saw little to no crowds at least Mon-Fri on either the Eagle Bahn Gondola or Gondola One. Second, it snowed at least a little bit almost every day/night of our visit so there was a lot of soft snow up the mountain for us to enjoy. Even though my physical condition didn't allow me to traverse the whole resort, it was pretty clear that there is a lot of terrain for intermediate and advanced skiers. For beginners, I would be concerned that most of the actual green runs are "catwalks" or transportation corridors that are used by all skiers. These runs may not be as steep as the Blues, but they are also very narrow and often crowded with skiiers going much faster. Intermediate skiiers should not be intimidated by the "Legendary Back Bowls." Some of those bowls are actually quite moderate in terms of difficulty and everything is extremely well-marked and all lift-served Vail is expensive. Everything is expensive, not just the lift tickets. I would recommend only visiting if you get an EPIC pass. The discount is really quite dramatic and you get discounts on all mountain venues like restaurants with that EPIC Pass I was especially impressed by the technology used by the resort to share information with the guests. At your fingertips (mobile phone) you have trail maps(including which trails have been groomed)) lift wait times, your own personal stats, etc. Fantastic.

Beautiful Swiss ski chalet designed hotel with stunning location in the centre of town. The hotel had a heated pool and beautiful decor and we were made at home from the minute we walked in the door.
