I was thoroughly impressed. The hotel has a wonderfully modern and chic aesthetic - it feels incredibly fresh and well-designed throughout. My room was spotless and maintained to a very high standard by the housekeeping team. The service was top-notch as well; the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. A special mention must go to the breakfast, which was very good. Plenty of quality options to set you up for a day, including good coffee. If you're looking for somewhere stylish, clean, and professional, I couldn't recommend the Arlo enough.

FAQs about hotels in Washington, D.C.

A World Icon

Featuring tons of national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.

Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.

If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.

DC’s planning policy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guesthouse booked through Booking.com.

Washing D.C. is a beautiful place with lots to do.

Washing D.C. is a beautiful place with lots to do. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the sights. Our favorite was the Lincoln Memorial. It was great to see so many people out and about. The city is very clean. One of the downsides is parking was hard to find and it’s not free. There also weren’t a lot of food places that we found. The speed limit is like 45 at the most. There are tons of cars and the driving habits are not great. Have lots of patience.

Not enough shade. Very hard to see metro stops. Too much construction. Not easy to get around. When walking hard to see which way going. Would suggest a sign ie. on 15 and L. Say which way to go to get to 16. Hip help knowing what way to go so not walking blocks the wrong way. T

We wanted to show our grandkids the U.S. capitol.

We wanted to show our grandkids the U.S. capitol. There is so much to do and see. We made reservations 30 days in advance for the Wa Monument, and the air and space museum and the capitol building tour. We entered the other museums without reservations. We had lunch in the museums but sometimes it took a long time—a long time in line and a long time to then wait for the order. We took metro to National Airport to pick up a rental car to drive to Mt. Vernon. And the red line was convenient to Mint House to go to the zoo. We stayed in our apartment in the evenings playing cards or streaming a couple movies which tied in with the African American museum. A great trip! Our grandkids are 11 and 15. The 11 yo was a little young for some of the exhibits and did get tired but was a real trooper, never complaining. Know your kids. We left the art museum when she was too tired to absorb anything. The zoo was mainly for her because she loves animals.

Loved exploring all the historical monuments and architectural buildings. Would have liked more time to visit more of the Smithsonian museums. Friendly people encountered and enjoyed some great restaurant/ Cafe options. The suburb of Capitol Hill was very safe and had beautiful houses. Easy to walk around main sites but many transport options available. We mainly used uber due to time constraints.

DC is rich in culture and history. Spring is a great time to visit. You could take a week just to see the Smithsonian. Consider using the Metro as your Primary mode of transportation. DC can be a difficult city to navigate and parking us expensive. Enjoy.

We - a family with two kids (5 and 8 years old) - stayed in the Riggs for four nights. The hotel is really comfortable und its location is very good to explore the city from there. We also enjoyed the breakfast and Café Riggs. But definitely the best of Riggs is the chief of concierge Tiffany Gary. She not only gave us valuable advice for our stay in Washington and helped us to get tickets, but also provided a pleasant surprise at the next stop of our trip in New York. Thank you, Tiffany.

Our stay at Capital Hilton Washington DC was excellent. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had a good variety. The hotel’s location was perfect, with all major tourist attractions just a short walk or drive away.
