Its a historic town whose glory has now faded.
The Big Hole was definitely worth a visit, but most of the other historic houses and museums that we wanted to visit are closed during the weekend. (so, doesn't make sense for an out of town visitor at all)

People really friendly. Lots of old buildings which 8s amazing. Roads terrible though but everything else perfect. Great halaal places to eat was Don Boi and Mini Pakistan. Went to see the the Big Hole and learnt some great history. Places are really close to each other and easy to find.

The area around the Big Hole are horribly run down.
The area around the Big Hole are horribly run down. It has wonderful late- Victorian architecture and if the authorities got their act together, it would be a great tourist attraction. The Big Hole museum is well run, but so much more could be done with the once fabulous outdoor museum (replica of the original old town)

The CBD (city centre) was incredibly dirty (litter everywhere) and felt mildly unsafe. This is sadly and unfortunately true of so many towns/cities (both small and large) throughout South Africa these days.
The Big Hole Museum was a surprising breath of fresh air in an otherwise dirty and unwelcoming environment.
The city roads were fairly delipidated, with lots of small potholes. Again, this is simply an indictment of the corrupt and distressingly mismanaged municipalities and local government structures operating throughout South Africa.

Official tourist location are limited to the diamond and war history. There ought to be more local adventures that tourists could participate in; Live music concerts, festivals, interesting spaces to connect with other tourist perhaps.
Had lunch at the Protea Hotel (The Marriot), using a Bolt (Taxify). The drivers are friendly, so are the wait staff.

Staff - Londiwe Memela and Neliswa are always pleasant and helpful, with speed in the restaurant! Shout out to them.
The buffet chef…yoh I always look forward to dinner!!! I appreciate when there are some aspects of food that are raw or dull (especially the veggies) for some of us who cannot have spices and flavourings.
Tshepo and Patience are great faces of Protea Kimberley, always giving a pleasant entry to the hotel.
A very nice and small hotel in the center of Kimberley, close to the mall and main roads. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Room was spacious with a full bathroom, separate bath and walk-in shower. A good breakfast to start the day and secure underground parking.
Very clean and comfortable. We forgot our Stanley flask in our guest room. They phoned us and said they would keep it for us to collect when we pass through Kimberley again. It's the first time ever a guest house contacts us when we forgot something! What great service.
The hotel is always excellent with large rooms. Little touches are appreciated such as tissues by the bed, water in the fridge and a top sheet. The hotel is on the outskirts of Kimberley, so in the morning one can get straight onto the Cape Town road
The venue was clean, crisp linen with no odors, regular change of towels.
We had NO issues with loadshedding and water issues although all the other hotels and B&B did.
Neels was always accommodating and available to requests that we had
They do not serve breakfast.
Location is basically close to everywhere I needed to go.
They were very friendly and accommodating.
I liked the space outside where I could sit, and relax after work.
I will recommend this hotel to any traveler visiting Kimberley, excellent service, excellent communication, with the friendliest staff always ready to assist and make one stay as comfortable as ever.
We love hystoric buildings and hotels with a good story. Your establishment has it all. The chandeliers are out of thid world. The patio pool is a winner altough we did not swim.
We were in a self catering apartment, and we catered our selves for breakfast.
the location is very peaceful and calming and is not far from town and the usual restaurants.
The apartment was everything I expected and had all facilities which one expects in a self catering unit. The location was perfect as it is near all shops.
Graham is the best thing to have happened to our trip. Caring, Concerned, Warm and knows a lot about Kimberley. Drove us around and made our stay pleasant!
