Darren was a fantastic host- very attentive and had great recommendations about things to do and places to eat. By talking to him we gained good insight into life in Don Det. We enjoyed a spacious, clean room with a big bed, beautiful views of sunset over the river, hammocks, a fridge and a good shower. Darren also offered pick up from the ferry, and he met us there with our luggage when we were leaving.

The check-in instructions were very detailed, and the owner was contactable at any time and answered all my questions to make my stay as comfortable as possible. There is a kitchen with necessary utensils, a refrigerator, a washing machine and an ironing board. The bed is comfortable.

Safety parking area, very clean and comfortable room with AC and fridge, fast Wi-Fi. Breakfast are great , we enjoy our breakfast time by the riverside with a amazing view, all the foods are fresh and delicious cooked by the ladies who work in the kitchen. All the staffs are super friendly, trying to help us with all our needs, they are the best people we met in Laos, especially the Manager Tom, you can get all information you need from him, like booking a Tour, the good place to visit, the best local food to try…highly recommended! We gonna miss you guys, we will come back again next time!

Everything - The location with the river in front, the proximity to the elephants in the sanctuary was just beyond unique and beautiful. The beautiful tented river view villas with their big balcony was pure indulgence, from there we got the chance to observe the life of the Lao people farming and going about their lives by the river. We were also entertained several times a day by the elephants being fed and bathed by excited tourists! The landscape was simply magical from dawn to dusk, from the heavy morning mist to the star filled skies at night. The sense of peace and tranquility, unfortunately broken by Mr Pun blaring loud Lao music over 2 days of the New Year, and relaxed pace of life in Shangri-Lao will stay with us for a long time - until we return! We were very well looked after by Fong, her team plus all the guys in the resort - a big thank you!
