Don't think twice and BOOK! Is the 👌 place to stay in Nungwi. The hotel is new, very well made, clean and comfortable- feels like home. The view is incredible and the beach is with white soft sand. The island has a lot of problems with electricity but the hotel has its own generator and there are no blackouts. The owner and the staff are the best, very helpful and really nice. Tasty breakfast, good coffee and tea, delicious fresh and fruits. We travel with our 2 years old daughter and Ahmed, the owner, was a real medical suport for us ( good hospital, medicine, transport and a lot of smiles and hug for her). He is there to help you with everything. They also arrange a big, big surprise for my birthday. I felt like they are my Zanzibar family. There is nothing, but nothing to complain about in this place. All in all a perfect experience!

My room was spacious and cozy, with a lovely view and all the essentials for a restful stay. But the real highlight was the staff — incredibly friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. From check-in to check-out, they made me feel at home. They were always ready to help, offer local tips, or simply check in to make sure I was enjoying my stay. If you’re traveling solo, especially as a woman, I highly recommend this hotel. I felt safe, supported, and completely relaxed the entire time. We have just stayed at Kaskazi and enjoyed every second of our stay. The hotel is tastefully and thoughtfully designed and decorated, and really compliments the natural surroundings. We stayed in a double room for our week stay and added an extra night on so moved to a suite as this was then the only available option if we wished to stay an extra night. Although the double room was great, I would absolutely recommend the suite, as it extremely spacious, we wish we had booked this for the whole stay . In regard to staff, each and every staff member were fantastic, including of house staff, kitchen staff, maintenance, housekeeping and security. Joseph who was working at the upstairs bar deserves a special mention. Great drinks Joseph! He really looked after us, was always a friendly face and was such a genuine kind hearted man. His customer service really was outstanding and it was lovely chatting with him at the bar of an evening. My understanding is that he is currently also at college studying hospitality. He would be an asset to the hotel if a full time opportunity came up. Peter and sefroza in the restaurant deserve a mention as so Allen and Eliesi ( may have spelt that wrong) Also Davis in reception and the two tour company representatives. Food was great, the only thing I think would be beneficial would be to add a larger a la carte menu and for this to be also available at night. The hotel is beautiful, but the staff here really make this place special. We are already looking to return next year! Thank you for a memorable holiday.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at African Bungalows in Nungwi, Zanzibar. This cozy gem exceeded all my expectations. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going above and beyond to make sure guests feel at home. The food is absolutely delicious, every meal was a treat! The hotel is nestled in a beautiful garden that creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with a lovely pool. And the hotel is just a one minute walk to the stunning beach. The rooms are clean, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay and the bed was very comfortable, I had the best sleep in a long time. Another standout feature is the generator so you never have to worry about power interruptions. If you’re looking for a perfect spot for relaxation with excellent food and service in Zanzibar, I highly recommend African Bungalows. I’ll definitely come back!
